All-Suite & Ocean View Inn - Izu Kunpu -

Because it was a three-day weekend right at the start of summer vacation, it ended up a little over our original budget—but we wanted to stay here so badly that we made the Reservation anyway. And once we actually stayed… it was worth every yen—no, even more than that. We had an absolutely wonderful time.The location was even better than expected: right in front of us were white sand and a blue sea. There were quite a few families and international guests, but at night it was very quiet.You can head straight to the beach from the Hotel, and everything was thoughtfully prepared—dedicated beach sandals, a washing machine, towels, and more. I also really appreciated that when you take off your slippers there, you can place them neatly into a shoe box labeled with your Room name—something I found especially reassuring as someone who’s a bit particular about cleanliness.The Room was truly spacious, spotless, and very functional. Everything felt refined from corner to corner—the washbasin, furnishings, wall colors, decorations—all beautifully coordinated and calming. A small detail, but the loungewear fabric was very soft and had buttons so it stayed in place comfortably.The semi-open-air bath in the guest room had excellent water quality and temperature. Being able to soak slowly while looking out at the ocean—with no insects flying around—was pure bliss.We enjoyed our in-room meals while chatting pleasantly with our attendant; everything was delicious. The simmered whole kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) was especially impressive—large and full of flavor—truly “this is Izu!” That said, personally I would have preferred beef as steak (even a small portion) rather than chilled shabu-shabu wrapped with vegetables. If many guests are older adults, it would be great if there were an option available even with an additional charge.Breakfast included many dishes as well—I ended up eating quite a lot first thing in the morning!Overall this Accommodation deserves high marks across the board; if I had to be strictly critical, dinner alone could have felt slightly more luxurious or surprising—something that makes you think “This is exceptional—I’ve never tasted anything like it.” Even so, it was such a wonderful Accommodation that I absolutely want to return again next year. I’ve stayed several times at Tateshina Kaoru and really enjoyed it, so when I heard it had also opened in Shimoda, we stayed there to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It seems the former Tōtei has been renovated, and the cleanliness of the Room, the quality of the food (generous portions), the in-room bath (Onsen), and the service were all up to Kaoru’s usual standards. Best of all, with Irida Beach right in front of you, the panoramic bath on the 4th floor has an incredible view and was truly relaxing for both body and mind. Thank you very much.After swimming at Irida Beach during summer vacation, I’d love to stay again—but our preferred dates are already fully booked, so we’ll have to wait until next time. We’re looking forward to it.
