We stayed in a double Room for two. The Room was a bit small, but it was clean. The large public bath was smaller than expected, but it wasn’t too crowded, and there was also an open-air bath, so it was comfortable. We were surprised by the ice cream and probiotic drink after the bath—it was a nice service. We would like to stay again if we have the chance.

This was my first time visiting Togura Kamiyamada Onsen. The proprietress kindly showed me to my Room, and I was already in relaxation mode after being served delicious pickles and tea. The Onsen is 100% free-flowing natural hot spring water, available 24 hours a day. The water was wonderfully smooth with a gentle sulfur scent, and I enjoyed it many times—after arrival, at night, and again in the morning. And the meal I had been looking forward to! Every dish was carefully prepared and truly delicious. I also tried the seasonal strawberry liqueur; it wasn’t overly sweet, and the fresh strawberry aroma was so refreshing and delightful. The proprietress served me with a warm smile, and our small conversations were so enjoyable that even though I was traveling solo, I had a wonderful time dining. I also appreciated being able to relax over my meal in the newly renovated private dining room. It was my first visit to Togura Kamiyamada Onsen, but both the hot spring water and the cuisine were outstanding—I’d love to return in another season. Thank you very much.

Having read the Reviews in advance, I was aware of what to expect, but my companion was very surprised by the contrast between the front desk atmosphere and the impression of the Room. The day-use bathing area feels lively like a busy public bathhouse, while the guest Rooms were calm and comfortable. Because we visited on a weekday, the large public bath was not crowded and very relaxing. The only thing that bothered me slightly was seeing someone brushing their teeth at the washing area. Even so, I was truly impressed by the abundant flow of free-flowing Onsen water straight from the source. When I visit around Nagano Station for work in the future, I would love to stop by again even just for a day-use bath. The Room was flawlessly comfortable, and the private indoor bath was very spacious. I was also amazed by how much hot water it had. Dinner was served in-room, so we could relax without worrying about others, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious dishes with thoughtful touches. The staff member who served us was friendly and made it a pleasant time. At breakfast, it was also nice to be able to choose between rice porridge cooked with Onsen water and regular steamed rice. Please note that there are no amenities provided in the large public bath area (including makeup remover), so bringing your own is recommended. The in-Room amenities are also provided for one use (one day) only, so if you plan to bathe multiple times, it may be reassuring to bring extras. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay.

From check-in to check-out, your attentive and kind hospitality made our trip truly wonderful! We were a bit anxious because we were traveling with our dog, but we had no inconveniences at all and were able to stay comfortably—thank you so much. Thank you as well for kindly accommodating our request to adjust the meals. We would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

My spouse and I love baths, and lately we’ve been enjoying staying at Mercure. We stayed in June and had such a great experience that this is our second stay. It’s clean, relaxing, and comfortable, so we come mainly to stay and unwind rather than for sightseeing. We’ll be back again—thank you in advance.

This was my second visit to Kamiyamada Onsen, and this time I was able to relax while reminiscing about my previous stay around 10 years ago. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and thanks to the rotation of the large public baths, we were able to fully enjoy both. The sulfur Onsen felt light and gentle on the skin. The meals were delicious with seasonal ingredients, and the tableware was lovely as well. It is a traditional, charming place that makes me want to visit again.

The open-air Onsen bath in the Room was truly relaxing, and I used it many times. We chose the small-portion Plan for meals, but it was more than enough to leave us completely full. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The thoughtful touches unique to a small Ryokan—such as a toothpick holder made from chiyogami paper—made the hospitality genuinely comforting. The proprietress and all staff were also very pleasant. Also, since I have trouble with my legs, I stayed in a barrier-free Room, but the shampoo and other amenities in the shower area were placed quite low. If possible, I would like them to be set a little higher. Thank you very much.
