Because we decided on our trip to Lake Toya at the last minute, I didn’t think we would be able to make a Reservation at a good Hotel. Since May is one of the peak seasons for travel in Japan, I wasn’t expecting much. But after staying there, the Hotel quality exceeded my expectations. I especially loved the dinner buffet. There was an incredible variety of dishes, and many were far better than I anticipated. I ate too much and ended up walking outside for hours afterward to feel better (laugh). Breakfast was more standard compared with dinner, but still very satisfying. As for the Onsen, “Hoshi no Yu” was truly outstanding—I highly recommend trying it at least once. Waking up early to use it was a bit tough, but it was absolutely worth it. The feeling of seeing Mt. Yotei from the Onsen in the morning is hard to put into words. It was truly spectacular.

I stay here when I’m on business in Aomori. The free ramen at night was perfect for a light bite. The ice cream after relaxing in the large public bath was especially enjoyable. The omelet at breakfast the next morning was also delicious. I’d like to stay here again.

We stayed as a family to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our wedding anniversary. From the moment we checked in, we were amazed by the spacious, wonderful Room you prepared for us. When we checked out, we learned that it had been upgraded free of charge, which truly moved us even more. At dinner, you even prepared a fruit platter to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our anniversary—thank you so much. Our whole family was touched by your warm thoughtfulness. The Onsen also offered a great variety, and we enjoyed bathing many times. Most memorable of all was the dinner buffet. Not only was every dish delicious, but each time limited-quantity items were announced one after another, we found ourselves excitedly wondering what would come next as we enjoyed our meal. Thanks to the Room, the Onsen, the meals, and above all the warm hospitality of your staff, this trip became an unforgettable memory for our entire family. After returning home, my husband and children told me, “Thanks to you, Mom, it was such a wonderful trip. Let’s do it again.” That made this trip especially joyful for me as well. I sincerely appreciate all of your kindness and consideration. We look forward to visiting again as a family someday. Thank you very much.

We stayed as a family gathering with relatives, including five preschool children. The entire Accommodation (lobby, Room, etc.) was kept very clean, so our stay was comfortable. Since the children were constantly full of energy, we requested a private dining room for meals. You provided a very spacious room, and the food was refined and delicious, using local ingredients. Everyone’s hospitality was wonderful and welcoming, and we would like to stay here again for our next family gathering. Thank you very much for your thoughtful care in many ways.

Since the full renovation, every facility has been spotless. I was satisfied with everything, but I was especially surprised at how spacious all four private baths were—and they were impeccably clean. The water was excellent, with no unpleasant chlorine smell overpowering the sulfur scent. The Nordic-style sauna was also very relaxing. The meals were delicious and just the right amount. This is a Ryokan I would definitely like to visit again.

This was my third stay. I visited twice before in May, and this time I came for the first time in autumn. Last time I was deeply moved, thinking, “What an incredible Accommodation,” and on this visit that feeling only grew stronger. A sense of unhurried calm and quiet fills the entire property. The Japanese paintings and seasonal tea flowers displayed along the corridors are beautiful, and tasteful touches can be felt everywhere. The Room is spacious and impeccably clean, and even the furnishings reflect the owner’s refined aesthetic and excellent taste. I was especially captivated by the small sewing kit, letter box, and other thoughtfully placed items—each one quietly charming. Rather than emphasizing luxury outright, I believe this Accommodation’s greatest appeal lies in how much care is devoted to every detail. I originally found this place while looking for an Accommodation where I could truly enjoy the cuisine, but even among similarly priced culinary Ryokan featured on IKYU.com, the food here feels a level—or two—above. Not only are the dishes crafted around seasonal ingredients; everything is outstanding: the choice of tableware, presentation, and even the dashi in each soup bowl. There is no end to what I could write—every single dish moved me. The staff member who introduced each course (perhaps the young proprietress) was also wonderful. It wasn’t just an explanation of what we were eating; it naturally stirred our imagination, anticipation, and appetite even before we began. This too felt like hospitality unique to Toryukan. This time as well, I traveled with my elderly parents. Each trip with them carries a quiet thought that it may be our last together someday, so we cherish every moment we can share. We were truly grateful for how warmly all of your staff treated us—it remains deeply in my heart. Thanks to you all, we once again spent a wonderful time together as a family and created unforgettable memories. I feel Toryukan is not simply an Accommodation where you stay overnight to rest—it is a place that lets you savor time itself as it flows there. Beautiful surroundings, exceptional cuisine, a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, warm hospitality. We would love to return again to enjoy each season’s beauty—and its cuisine. It was a wonderful Room with a stunning view of rolling hills and distant mountains. The meals were beautifully presented, highly original Japanese cuisine, and the distinctive tableware—together with the interior—created a strong sense of cohesive style. The service was also pleasant, and their dedication really came through. Thank you for allowing us to spend such a relaxing, peaceful time.

I accompanied my relatives on this trip because their family home is in Akita. They said there was nothing there, but we drove through Hachimantai and, along the way, enjoyed a day-use bath at Goshogake Onsen. After visiting the family grave in Noshiro (the main purpose of the trip), we stayed at this Accommodation. Things ended up being a bit hectic, but we would like to stay again.

We were happy to see the energetic Hokkaido dogs again—Miyon, Dan, and Dolly! This Accommodation was satisfying in every way, from the Onsen to the meals, and they even moved our “repeat guest” plaque to our 8th car. Thank you to all the staff for your consistently warm and attentive hospitality.

Located near Obihiro Station and close to the nightlife district, this Hotel offers an excellent location where you’ll never have trouble finding food or drinks at night. The parking lot includes a multi-story facility and partnerships, making it perfect for those who wish to park their car and head out again. The lobby, front desk, Onsen, and guest rooms are all exceptionally clean and well-maintained, providing a very comfortable stay. The Onsen features the famous moor hot spring water, which is a rare treat at this price point. Breakfast is served as a buffet packed with delicious specialties from the Tokachi region. Every dish was incredibly flavorful—truly impressive. Having visited Hokkaido multiple times before, I can confidently say that this Hotel offers some of the best cuisine in its price range. Additionally, when I contacted them later regarding forgotten items left behind during my stay, their response was extremely kind and thorough. Thanks to their attentive service, I was able to retrieve my belongings without disrupting my travel plans. This Hotel truly lives up to its name as a premier destination with outstanding rooms, dining options, and service—a perfect combination for any traveler!

We stayed here during the Obon holidays as a family of three. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was delicious, and it made our trip truly wonderful.

I had long had this Accommodation on my list to visit, and chose it for a trip to celebrate my retirement. With no worries about the weather, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the baths. There was also a free Shuttle Service from Shin-Tamagawa to Tamagawa, and the vigorously bubbling Onsen was truly impressive. Both the quality and quantity of the meals were excellent, and I was able to fully enjoy Akita’s local cuisine.

Thank you for taking care of us again in a Room with an open-air bath. The Room has beds, and at the back there is a spacious armchair where you can sit and relax while looking out at the garden. I was able to unwind there, enjoying tea and reading quietly. With the beds, it was also easy to lie down and rest right away, which gave me a reassuring sense of comfort. Last time we stayed over New Year’s with family, but this time it was wonderful to enjoy the garden as it shifted from summer into autumn while soaking in the open-air bath in the Room. Sanraku is also well known for its baths; in particular, the open-air baths are highly recommended, as you can feel even the natural breeze and soak amid beautiful mountain scenery. As for the cuisine, there has been a change of head chef, bringing a fresh new approach. While maintaining Sanraku’s original attentive Japanese cuisine that highlights seasonal ingredients, I could sense new ideas being introduced. Dishes were served freshly prepared, and it felt clear that great care is taken so guests never grow tired of what is offered. Our attendant provided detailed explanations of each dish and showed wonderful hospitality. An attendant who had looked after us previously also took the time to speak with us. The front desk and welcoming staff remembered our previous stay as well, making this an Onsen Ryokan where you can truly relax with peace of mind. I sincerely hope that such a hospitable Japanese Ryokan will continue its history for many years to come. As an IKYU Diamond member benefit, we received half a bottle of wine as well as shopping vouchers—great value tickets that could be used both for drinks at meals and for souvenirs. This is a Ryokan I would love to visit again.

We stayed for one night. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and generously portioned, so we were very satisfied. The hot spring bath was also fed directly from the source, and it warmed us through to the core.

Although the weather was fine down below, up in the mountains it was foggy and rainy, so unfortunately even after taking the ropeway it was a completely white world. The open-air bath at the mountain Hotel was great. I was especially lucky to see Mt. Yari appear above the clouds from the mixed-gender open-air bath where you wear a bathing garment. Next time, I plan to come in October to observe the starry sky.

This is my second stay. For seniors, a Western-style room is recommended over a Japanese-style room. The Onsen is great, and the food is excellent—simply the best.

We stayed at this Accommodation after several days of hiking. The building feels a bit old, but it is in a quiet location, the Room was clean, and the amenities were well stocked. The baths were especially nice, with multiple tubs and soft, pleasant water. Dinner was generous, and with rice we were completely full. If possible, it would be nice to have explanations of the dishes or a menu. It’s an Accommodation we would like to stay at again.

I was hoping to visit Kamikochi and enjoy an Onsen, but this Ryokan was even better than I expected. The bath had wonderful water and a great atmosphere, and the meals were delicious. The staff’s hospitality was also excellent. I went with my family, and everyone was very satisfied—it became a great memory for us all.

Thank you for your hospitality the other day. Your attentive service was outstanding, and we were completely satisfied in every way. This is an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. The in-room Onsen was also excellent.
