We stayed here with four people over the October long weekend. The building and interior were spotless and sparkling clean, the room was spacious, and there were two toilets! We also relaxed on the lovely balcony and enjoyed stargazing. Only a no-meals plan was available, but we bought crab and sashimi at a nearby shop and enjoyed them in the room at our leisure. It was cheaper than eating out and easy on our budget. The tableware and cooking utensils were well stocked, so for our next trip, we have no other choice but to stay here again (lol). Oh—and the bath was wonderful too! Thank you very much for such a happy trip!

Better than imagined—Links. Room 201 exceeded expectations. Natsudomari Onsen was also outstanding! With a sauna, and natural hot spring water from a 1,450-meter source, everything perfectly matched our taste and sensibilities. It’s a hotel and course we’d definitely love to visit again.

My stay was very comfortable and relaxing. The meals were excellent—hot dishes were served hot, and the tempura in particular was crispy and delicious. At breakfast, I was surprised by how large the clams were. I also enjoyed the hot spring even late at night, and I would love to visit again.

Originally, my husband and I planned to go by ourselves, but our children decided they wanted to come too and made separate reservations on their own, so it ended up being a family trip. We are truly grateful for the wonderful hot springs, meals, and the kindness of all the staff. Even though we had booked separately, we were told at check-in that you had arranged for us to be seated together at dinner, which we greatly appreciated. We were satisfied with everything and would love to visit again if we have the chance.

This was our first glamping experience, and thanks to the wonderfully welcoming staff, we had a fantastic time! We booked without realizing the plan included a private campfire next to the tent and a private bath, so it was a delightful surprise on the day. We’d love to stay again!

This Accommodation sits at the highest point of Arifuku Onsen in Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture. I stayed here eight years ago and returned this time. It used to be a historic, retro inn, but after the renovation it has been transformed into a wonderful Onsen Accommodation that beautifully blends tasteful interiors with a nostalgic atmosphere. Dinner was a full-course meal at a nearby Italian restaurant included in the Plan. Despite being stylish, they also provided chopsticks, and every dish was carefully prepared with delicate seasoning—everything was truly delicious. Breakfast was also very good, though I would have liked one more side dish (such as dried fish). The Onsen water has a silky, slightly slippery feel—perhaps that’s why it’s known as “beautifying” water. I’ve visited many hot spring areas, but this texture is quite rare. There is also a glass window in the dining room floor where you can see the source spring. On Saturday nights, it seems you can watch Iwami Kagura at the nearby Kagura hall just steps from the Accommodation. Unfortunately, my stay wasn’t on a Saturday so I couldn’t see it, but next time I’d like to make my Reservation for a Saturday.

My check-in was significantly delayed due to a long wait for a taxi at the airport, but I was warmly welcomed. The Onsen and the service were both excellent. Thank you very much.

This was our fourth visit. The manager and all the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making us want to come back again and again. And above all, the hot spring is outstanding—once you experience the silky, smooth water, you’ll never forget it. I had always wanted to bring my parents here, so I was very happy we could visit together this time. Thank you again for the delicious meals and heartfelt hospitality.

We chose this Accommodation for our final day. The meals were served in our Room, and above all, the Onsen was outstanding. Every dish was delicious, especially the sukiyaki and the surf clam sashimi. Breakfast was also generous, and the peach we had for dessert was sweet and very tasty. I was surprised by the proprietress’s greeting as it was my first time experiencing that, but thank you for taking the time to come and greet us. We would love to visit again. We will use the bottled natural hot spring water we received at check-out as a substitute for toner.

During my previous stay, I was deeply impressed by the incredibly relaxing onsen and immediately made reservations for two more stays upon returning home. The meals were all exceptionally delicious; last time, I enjoyed shabu-shabu, and this time, I savored tender Hida beef teppanyaki. I was amazed by the tenderness of the grilled ayu fish and loved the rice porridge cooked with carbonated spring water served at breakfast. I even brought some of the accommodation's carbonated spring water home to make porridge myself—it turned out delicious! I also recreated the smooth coffee made with carbonated spring water that I had at the accommodation. The warm hospitality of both the owner and hostess reflected their wonderful personalities, making this a place I want to keep visiting in the future. I'm already looking forward to my next stay!

Dinner was very satisfying, featuring unique and delicious creative dishes and other tasty items made with local ingredients such as Oita beef. The bath was also wonderful, with a great view from the open-air bath that felt very relaxing.

The bath was small, but the open-air bath was warm as well. The meals were small in portion, but excellent.

I stayed here for one night on the second night of my five-night solo trip to Kusatsu Onsen from Fukuoka, and I’m glad I was able to get a Reservation. I had heard that Kusatsu Onsen has various types of spring water, so I chose this Ryokan because it has a great reputation for its water quality and allows solo guests to enjoy the Onsen. Just as expected, the Onsen was truly wonderful, and I enjoyed soaking many times. I also visited several public baths—hot, tingling springs like Jizo-no-Yu felt great—but Gokurakukan’s comfortably warm Onsen was perfect for a long soak. It’s also recommended for those who don’t like very hot water. Towels were available in the Room as well as in the changing area by the bath, which was very convenient. Another nice point was being able to go to the Onsen without passing through the front desk, making it easy even early in the morning. The Room was clean, and the toilet was exceptionally spotless. I was happy to find Matsumura manju served with tea snacks. The free breakfast was delicious—the bread was wonderfully chewy. I also had dinner at the restaurant on the second floor; both the curry doria and carrot salad were excellent. At check-out, the owner and staff kindly gave me detailed sightseeing tips around Kusatsu. Thanks to them, I learned about Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano Prefecture and went there using car sharing. After waiting about 30 minutes, I was lucky enough to see monkeys soaking in an Onsen—it was amazing. The next day, I used car sharing again and enjoyed Ikaho’s hot spring buns and Mizusawa udon as well. It became a truly memorable solo trip. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and next time I’d love to stay with my family—thank you very much.

We planned this trip because we were drawn to the tagline, “A heartwarming inn for dog lovers – Sanwaso.” The staff were all very kind, the room was extremely comfortable, and above all, seeing our dog’s happy face made it truly special. You can relax freely throughout the property, and there is a bathtub for dogs as well, so we were able to enjoy the hot spring together. The meals were also delicious. We’re glad we chose this inn. If we have the chance, we would love to visit again.

Thank you for waiting for us even though we arrived late at night due to train delays. We made a Reservation with a breakfast-included Plan, and the portion size was just right for adults with a small appetite. While the building has a charming atmosphere, it was also a calm and clean Accommodation. In particular, the ceramics displayed throughout were all impressive, and we enjoyed taking our time to admire them. (They looked quite expensive, so families with energetic children may feel a bit nervous.) We would definitely like to stay again on our next trip to Beppu. Thank you very much.

Overall, this was a Ryokan with an exceptionally high level of satisfaction. This time, we stayed in the Kusamakura Room. There were two of us, but the Room was so spacious it felt almost too large, and premium amenities were provided—so much so that we didn’t need to bring anything from home. The Room has its own bath, and when you open the door it becomes an open-air bath, which was wonderful. There was also a footbath in the garden outside. Because the hot spring source temperature is low—and perhaps because other guests start filling their baths right after check-in—it was a bit disappointing that filling the bath while heating it took quite some time. The meals were very satisfying, featuring spiny lobster, and all of the tableware used was beautiful as well. At check-in, you can choose stylish chopsticks yourself and take them home; even after returning home, seeing them brings back lovely memories.

This was our first stay as a couple. The building shows its age, but it has been beautifully renovated and kept very clean. On the day of our stay, there was one indoor bath, one open-air bath, and two private baths. After dinner we used a private bath, and the next morning we enjoyed the open-air bath. The water temperature seems to be adjusted by adding cold water; for me it felt a bit hot at first but quickly became just right and very relaxing. The food was excellent—everything was delicious, including salt-grilled yamame trout and wild herb chips—and after returning home I had gained 1 kg. We were worried about ferry service due to the typhoon, but there were no issues. At night, looking up at the sky felt so close, and Orion shone beautifully—it was truly moving. We would love to visit again.

The hot spring water quality was excellent, and since bathing is limited to up to five guests at a time, we were able to soak and relax at our own pace. The soothing sound of the river was very calming, and we could unwind while feeling close to nature.

This was my third stay. In the super-hot sauna for 5 minutes, the freezing cold mineral spring for 5 minutes, then a 5-minute rest. Doing this for 3–5 sets feels amazing. After that, I enjoyed a delicious dinner and slept soundly. The next morning, I had breakfast and did the sauna, mineral spring, and rest again—perfectly refreshed. It was fantastic. The Accommodation had a strong retro Showa-era vibe. Don’t forget a thick sauna hat!

Easily accessible from Makinoto Pass, this is a great hotel with both meals and an onsen. Dinner offers a wide variety of dishes that will leave you full. Breakfast is also delicious. The onsen includes family baths with open-air options as well as indoor baths, providing a wonderful experience. While the building and rooms may show some age, it is still a highly recommended accommodation.
