With warm smiles and heartfelt hospitality, a beautiful space blending Japanese and Western styles, and gentle Japanese cuisine made with local ingredients, our stay was truly wonderful. The Room is comfortable, combining a Japanese-style room overlooking a beautiful Japanese garden with a cozy bedroom. Thank you for such an exceptionally relaxing time, as if wrapped in a soft, gentle atmosphere.

We arrived by taxi from Hakodate Airport. There is also a bus stop within walking distance, which is convenient. The meals were plentiful, and the squid in particular was delicious. It’s best not to expect much in terms of the view from the Room. There are two convenience stores nearby, and the refrigerator was empty so we could use it freely. The Onsen was excellent, with smooth, light water. Everyone—from the front desk to meal service and futon setup—was friendly and always smiling, which was wonderful. We will stay here again when we visit Hakodate.

The meals were truly outstanding. The sake pairings were also excellent. This is an Accommodation I definitely want to return to for the first time in a while.

It was a quiet Onsen Accommodation that suited the town of Hida-Furukawa perfectly. Everything was wonderful, and it’s rare that I’ve been able to spend time so comfortably. What was it, exactly? Everything! The only disappointment was that I could hear footsteps from the Room on the third floor until late at night. Next time I stay, I plan to request a higher floor. It’s an Accommodation I would definitely like to stay at again next year.

The cuisine was outstanding and truly moving. Each dish reflected careful selection of fresh local ingredients and meticulous preparation. Given the location, I expected excellent seafood, but the vegetables were beyond anything I imagined. This Accommodation is well worth going out of your way for.

This was our first trip together, and we stayed here to celebrate her birthday. The Room and service were excellent, but above all, we were truly impressed by the meals. Both breakfast and dinner were a wonderful experience. We would definitely like to stay again.

We stayed here last year and had such a wonderful time that we definitely wanted to come back. This year, we chose our travel destination mainly because we wanted to stay at this Accommodation again, and it did not disappoint. Our Room had an indoor bath, but the open-air bath was so relaxing that we never even found time to use the indoor one (laughs). This is truly an Accommodation we want to return to again. Not only were the Facility, amenities, cuisine, and location excellent, but above all, the staff’s attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and care were outstanding—my husband and I were impressed again and again. During meals, they noticed even our smallest movements and responded immediately. My favorite part was the corner where guests can freely read books. Cold barley tea was neatly prepared as well, and while enjoying the beautiful view outside, I was able to spend a quiet, unhurried time as if time had stopped. It was a Ryokan we were completely satisfied with. We will definitely come again!

I stayed here during the summer vacation of 2024. I couldn’t forget how moved I was, so I came back again after two years. The night view of Nagasaki, the excellent service from the staff, the comfort of the Room, and my satisfaction with breakfast, the restaurant, and the lounge—everything was just as wonderful as last time. The five-day Hotel stay flew by, but I felt refreshed both physically and mentally. Next time, maybe I’ll be even more ambitious and stay for seven days. I have stayed at this Accommodation many times, and it was excellent. The meals, baths, views, and Room—everything was completely satisfying. The recent renovation that made it possible to enjoy the view while dining was a nice improvement, but it was a bit uncomfortable making eye contact with guests heading to the baths during the meal.

I visited again. Even in the summer heat, many people were sightseeing in Onomichi. This time, I rode the ropeway for the first time—it climbs all at once and was truly thrilling. At a museum along the way to the Hotel, there was an exhibition about cats that felt very soothing. At the café, I enjoyed sweets with their recommended pairing. Dinner featured a variety of ingredients that went perfectly with wine. Breakfast was so delicious that I had a second serving of rice. I also enjoyed the letter room for the first time. I used to study calligraphy, so once I started writing different things with a brush pen, time flew by. It was also fun to see other guests’ creations. Spending summer in Onomichi while sharing everyone’s memories was wonderful too.

We stayed to celebrate my partner’s birthday. In our Room, there were welcome fruits, a towel cake and cake for the birthday celebration, and a message card from the Hotel staff. I initially wondered if paying around 100,000 yen for one night in Kyoto—an easy day trip—might be a bit too extravagant, but we also received Hotel credit as an IKYU Gold member benefit, and overall it turned out to be a very satisfying stay. We enjoyed the Hotel activities and the bath facilities, and I was also happy with the daruma we received when leaving. After turndown service, the soft drinks in the refrigerator had been replenished as well. These days more Hotels don’t even offer turndown service, so I felt that Six Senses really takes care of those details—exactly as you’d expect. For me it was definitely a splurge stay, but since our satisfaction level was high, I’d love to come back again when I have the chance.

I had dinner at the luxury auberge VILLA COMMUNICO in Nara. The location is at the foot (or maybe halfway up?) Mt. Wakakusa; it’s doable on foot, but a car is recommended. From the restaurant, Mt. Wakakusa is directly across the road, with deer here and there—an unmistakably Nara-like view. The Hotel as a whole is a renovated traditional Japanese house, creating a stylish space that still feels steeped in history. With only five rooms in total, it has a wonderfully secluded, hideaway atmosphere. Dinner starts all at once at 18:30. Guests gather in the second-floor lounge at 18:00 and relax with pre-meal tea while enjoying views of Mt. Wakakusa. When it’s time, you move down to the first floor. On entering, there’s an iconic fireplace and counter on the left. The first course is eaten standing while listening to the chef’s explanation—an unexpectedly unique experience. Cucumber, elderflower / Yamato jidori chicken, nasturtium Freshly made mozzarella, caviar Bonito, molokhia (jute mallow), okra Oyster, pine nuts, chives Japanese duck (Yamato-gamo), pumpkin, truffle Flounder, Manganji chili pepper, red-legged shrimp Sakaeya aged sirloin of culled Japanese Black wagyu Fig, blueberry, juniper berry Both the presentation and flavors were excellent. In particular, the dish combining bonito with molokhia and okra was outstanding. Courses are basically served simultaneously for everyone and paced to match slower diners overall, so dinner progresses at a leisurely speed. If you eat quickly, be aware there may be some downtime between courses.

For the first time in five years, I came by myself this time. At home, I’m always thinking about what I have to do and rarely get a chance to truly relax, but the time I spent at your auberge made me want to pick up books that caught my interest and listen to music I don’t usually hear. It felt wonderfully refreshing—like stepping out of everyday life. The food, of course, was more than satisfying and truly worthy of being called an auberge. Thank you very much!

I booked Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, where you can enjoy the sea of clouds, to celebrate my wife’s birthday. What surprised me first was that I had requested a birthday message plate at “Il Teatro,” the Italian restaurant we reserved for dinner, and the Hotel coordinated everything so wonderfully that at check-in they presented my wife with a handwritten birthday message card from the staff. Honestly, I was deeply moved by their hospitality. As an IKYU Diamond member, we received a Room upgrade, and they also kindly suggested switching to a suite (for an additional fee). The upgraded garden-view Room was spacious with an excellent view—we were completely satisfied. The sea of clouds was truly magical; it looked different depending on the time, and no matter how many times we watched it, we never got tired of it. Service at “Il Teatro” was also outstanding, and we had a memorable birthday dinner at a window seat overlooking the garden. The food was delicious, and the recommended Chardonnay was exceptional—exactly my kind of white wine. After that, we went to the bar for cocktails and returned to our Room, but we were having such a great time talking that we ended up missing the final grand sea of clouds show. Talking with my wife about making Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo our annual birthday tradition, we promised each other: “Next year, let’s dine in one of the private rooms used for Hanzawa Naoki filming—and this time we’ll definitely watch the grand nighttime sea of clouds from our Room.” It became a wonderful memory for us. I was able to spend a relaxing, luxurious time and truly feel refreshed. Although there aren’t many washing stations in the bath area, each one is separated by partitions, which made it easy to use at my own pace without worrying about others. There was plenty of space, and I enjoyed a very comfortable soak. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything from the appetizers onward was delicious. At breakfast, I appreciated being able to choose between rice or rice porridge; the sansho-seasoned baby sardines and lightly seasoned eggplant were especially memorable. The staff’s hospitality was warm and attentive, making my stay comfortable from arrival to departure. I’m truly glad I chose Shikisai Ichiriki.

Thank you for upgrading our Room. The moment we stepped inside, we were completely captivated by the quietly glowing hearth and the calming scent of incense. It felt like stepping away from everyday life—exactly what we had been looking for—and our excitement instantly soared. The Room had been renovated while preserving its old-world charm, which made us feel relaxed and at ease. The meals were delightful, with a focus on warmth, aroma, and storytelling. The world really is evolving! The minimal service that gently gave us space was also refined and wonderful. Thank you for such a relaxing stay.

I stayed with my mother, and we were satisfied with everything! The Room was spacious, bright, and spotless—almost too much for just the two of us. The bath was the perfect size and temperature. Bathing while listening to the morning birdsong was truly special. The meals I had been looking forward to most exceeded my expectations. Each dish was carefully prepared and delicious, and with the lovely atmosphere of the dining area, we had a wonderful time. We didn’t often see the Ryokan staff rushing around, but perhaps that’s part of their consideration so guests can relax in peace and quiet. If so, it’s impressively thorough. My mother especially loved it (as did I), so we would definitely like to stay again!

The Facility and Room were stylish, impeccably clean, and incredibly relaxing. The tea and snacks prepared at check-in were also chic and instantly lifted my mood. All the in-room amenities, as well as the sweets, coffee, and other refreshments provided, felt carefully selected. Dinner was far better than I had imagined—delicious, of course, and beautifully presented for the eyes as well. I requested a mixed pairing of sake and wine, which turned out to be exactly right; even though my appetite had been down from summer fatigue, both the drinks and the food went down easily. I also heard that even the seasonings are handmade, and my overall satisfaction was higher than at an auberge—maybe it is an auberge? The garden view was lovely too; with wonderful food and drinks plus attentive service, it became an unforgettable night. All of the staff were courteous yet friendly—I’d love to see them again. I’d like to visit again in a different season.
