I visited in search of an Onsen that is not chlorinated and does not use circulation. As expected, there was no chlorine smell, and the water was gentle and very satisfying. The meals were carefully prepared and truly delicious—I left completely full. The building is old, which can’t be helped, but the excellent hot spring water and food more than made up for it, so overall I was very satisfied. One episode that left a strong impression: After checkout, the attendant came to see us off at the entrance. After saying goodbye, we headed to the parking lot a short distance away (it took us some time to finish packing). When we later drove past the entrance, we realized she had been waiting in the heat just to see us off! She kindly stayed until the very end, and I was deeply touched by her warm hospitality. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We truly appreciate it. I would love to visit again.

I made a direct Reservation and had a very pleasant stay with kind, attentive service. I was surprised by how steep the hill is, but the Onsen is free-flowing from the source and left my skin feeling silky smooth, and the meals were carefully prepared, lightly seasoned, and delicious. I’d love to come again.

When we arrived at the bus stop, Mr. Kuboji was there to pick us up by car. We hadn’t requested it, but since it was raining, his thoughtfulness made us very happy. The Room was spacious, and although three of us stayed, we were able to relax comfortably. The meals were delicious, and we had a wonderful time. The warm, home-like atmosphere was the best.

The free-flowing natural hot spring water overflowed generously, and it was wonderfully hot and relaxing. It’s located a little away from central Kusatsu, but I’m sensitive to noise, so I was thrilled to sleep soundly in the quiet. They provided Shuttle Service to the town center, so I could enjoy a beer without worrying about driving or parking. The facilities were clean, and the meals were delicious—I was completely full!

My friend and I stayed for one night. Our check-in ended up being quite late at 8:30 PM, but the staff were very courteous and helpful. The retro furnishings felt wonderfully nostalgic. They also lent us a basket bag and geta sandals—perfect for visiting the public baths in yukata. It was my first time in Kinosaki Onsen, and I’d love to visit again with my friend. The place had a warm and homely atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing stay. As we had heard from reviews, the meals were made with local ingredients, offering a variety of dishes that were delicious and highly satisfying. The location was also excellent, with a public Onsen just nearby.

I found an accommodation at Yubara Onsen that matched my preferences with a private open-air bath in the room, so I made a reservation. Although it was pouring rain on the day, the service started with staff bringing an umbrella to us at the parking lot, and their farewell was excellent until the very end. We stayed in "Ruri," and having a large private bath in the room that we could use anytime was amazing. My wife enjoyed soaking in the natural hot spring more frequently than I did. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying, and we didn’t even touch any of the snacks we bought from a convenience store just in case—we were completely full from our meals. The sake was delicious, and we also enjoyed using the baths at neighboring Tsuruya Inn. If I had to point out any negatives, perhaps there was a slight smell from the toilet? Or maybe some mold on the curtain of the open-air bath? The sound of ventilation fans? However, these minor issues didn’t bother us as there were far more positives during our stay. If you’re visiting Yubara Onsen, this is definitely a place you should experience at least once! It’s not just worth 5 stars but deserves 10 stars!

Full of Showa-era charm, both dinner and breakfast are delicious. The onsen is a natural hot spring with free-flowing water, making this accommodation perfect. Family-run, we had an enjoyable stay.

The staff and accommodation were exceptional, filled with thoughtful care and attention. Originally a private villa, it has been converted into a full rental-style accommodation. We chose a meal-inclusive plan, and while the portions were more than we could usually finish, the food was so delicious that we tried our best to eat it all... though we did leave a little (apologies!). On the checkout day, it was cold with snow on the ground. The staff and owner kindly brought tire chains for safety, which amazed us with their kindness. Fortunately, our rental car had winter tires, so we didn’t need them. Overall, this was an outstanding accommodation featuring incredible hospitality, state-of-the-art appliances, and an onsen!

A charming, nostalgic Showa-era Accommodation. I stayed here on the way back from Kamikochi with a foreign friend who wanted to experience a traditional Japanese Accommodation, and this place was perfect. My friend was very satisfied. The guest room was quite old, but they appreciated that as part of the charm. The bath had retro tiled walls and featured a fairly hot Onsen, which they enjoyed. The meals were also very delicious.

This is a historic, long-established Onsen Ryokan, but the baths and Rooms have been renovated, so we were able to relax comfortably. The meals were also delicious, enjoyed while appreciating both mountain and seafood specialties. I would definitely like to stay here again if I have the chance.

We stayed for one night from July 4 to 5. The building looks quite old from the outside, but the interior has been beautifully renovated, and we had a very comfortable stay. My spouse and I travel every year, and this place was a real find. Every dish was delicious, and there was so much food that we were completely full—very satisfying. Above all, the hostess’s personality made the biggest impression. Her warm, pleasant hospitality made our stay truly enjoyable. We would love to return if we have the chance again. I booked an accommodation for my mother and aunts visiting from another prefecture, looking for a reasonably priced and nice place. When I asked them about their stay, they said it was absolutely wonderful. The food was very delicious. The bath was clean, and the natural view from the room was breathtaking. They mentioned wanting to visit again while they're still healthy. They enjoyed the manju served in the room so much that they purchased some to take home. The staff at the ryokan provided kind and excellent hospitality. My mother especially enjoyed chatting with one of the attendants and expressed her desire to return again. I'm so glad they were this happy with their stay!

This was my first stay. The room did not have a toilet, which was slightly inconvenient, but each floor had clean and separate toilets for men and women, so it wasn't much of an issue. The entire accommodation had a Hawaiian theme, and even children who are not used to traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine could enjoy the delicious Hawaiian-style meals. If I may make one suggestion, it would be nice to have a bit more time to use the free 40-minute open-air bath when it's available. I will stay again; thank you for your hospitality!

We stayed for one night with breakfast included. The Accommodation accepts only three groups per day, and the bath and toilets are shared; however, the bath is a private family-bath style. Since we have a daughter who dislikes large public baths with strangers, this was the deciding factor. We were able to book a two-room suite-style Room, with a separate living area and bedroom—spacious and relaxing. Perhaps because it used to be a traditional restaurant, the entrance area of the Room (shoe-off space) is open, and each Room is secured by locking its sliding doors (fusuma). The locks are screw-type locks for sliding doors rather than typical cylinder door locks, so younger guests unfamiliar with them may be confused at first (as our kids were). Also likely due to the building’s traditional structure—with fusuma and shoji screens—soundproofing is somewhat limited, and TV noise or conversations can be heard from the hallway (according to our daughter). That said, the property itself is generally quiet. The layout also seemed designed with noise in mind—for example, keeping relaxation spaces separated. There was one other family with small children staying that day, but it didn’t bother us. There is no washbasin inside the Room; instead, paper cups are provided at the sinks in the bath area and by the toilets for brushing teeth and washing up. Everything was well maintained and pleasant to use. Breakfast the next morning was served in a large hall on the second floor. It was an excellent Japanese-style breakfast—delicious.

We stayed here during the fireworks festival in a Room with a fireworks view. I wasn’t sure about the location at first, but we were able to watch the fireworks perfectly from our Room. The Ryokan itself is quite old, but it has been nicely renovated—especially around the bathrooms—so it was very comfortable. The meals were generous and we were very satisfied, and the staff’s service was excellent. With only seven Rooms in total, it’s a small Ryokan, so we didn’t run into other guests in the bath and enjoyed plenty of privacy.

The Facilities are old, but that adds a retro charm and makes you feel like you’ve come back to your family home in the countryside... The bath is quite hot—probably around 45°C—but there’s a hose on the faucet so you can cool it down before getting in. The meals had a nostalgic taste, featuring plenty of mountain vegetables. It feels like an Accommodation for adults. There is a public bathhouse right in front, where you can enjoy various types of baths. The parking lot is next door and easy to use. If you make a Reservation the day before, you can buy croissants as a souvenir at checkout. They’re extremely delicious and perfect as a snack while sightseeing at Okama and other spots. I will stay here again.

It seems to be a family-run Accommodation. It’s small, but modern, stylish, and lovely. It’s a bit of a walk to Yubatake, but you can get there on foot, and there’s also a convenience store nearby. There are plenty of private baths for the number of Rooms, so we were able to use one right away anytime. The meals were plentiful and delicious, and the tableware was beautiful as well. I’d like to stay here again when I visit Kusatsu. I’ve already recommended it to friends too.

Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious—we were very satisfied. The bath could also be used privately if the timing worked out, allowing us to relax in comfort. In addition, the owner and hostess were wonderful people, and their warm hospitality truly put us at ease.

We stayed as a family of four during the year-end holiday. When we informed our arrival time by phone, the owner warmly welcomed us with a set of welcome drinks prepared accordingly. While enjoying the drinks at the café on the first floor, we completed our check-in process and received recommendations for nearby dining spots and onsens, which showed their love for Ibusuki. The building is old but very well-maintained, with everything we needed like a kettle and coffee maker readily available, making it highly satisfying. The view of Kinko Bay from the window was also beautiful. We were especially grateful to enjoy authentic coffee during our trip. We used the in-room coffee maker to prepare coffee and poured it into our travel pot to enjoy during our drive. Although we only stayed for one night, I felt that it would be enjoyable to spend more time here as a base for exploring Ibusuki with family or friends at leisure. We only had a brief conversation with the owner during check-in, but they were kind and attentive, making us feel warmly welcomed despite being tired and anxious from traveling—bringing us great comfort.
