This was our first trip with my daughter and her husband, our grandchild, and two dogs. The Room was very spacious, and our 2-year-old grandchild was thrilled—running around until bedtime. Our Room was on the second floor, and the area below seemed to be around the front desk, so we didn’t have to worry too much about noise for guests downstairs. It was also our dogs’ first overnight stay, so we were a bit anxious, but most guests on the same floor were traveling with dogs as well. We could hear barking here and there, which made it feel relaxed and heartwarming. Having meals served in the Room was wonderful. If I could make one request: dessert and soup were served at the same time during dinner, so I would appreciate it if the soup could be served first. The Onsen was excellent—I went in three times. A typhoon was approaching so unfortunately the weather wasn’t great, but when the rain stopped we took a walk with our dogs and grandchild. The Onsen town at night had a lovely atmosphere and was really nice. All of the staff were friendly and spoke kindly to both our grandchild and our dogs—we truly felt their warmth. It was a very enjoyable Accommodation that left us with lasting memories. P.S.: The Room had everything prepared, including a crate, pet sheets/pads, a lint roller (sticky roller), deodorizer spray, and more.

For those used to city life surrounded by man-made structures, the sweeping rural scenery and the gentle fragrance of seasonal flowers feel like a feast for the heart. This is how “luxury” quietly spreads through every part of you. Above all, the greatest luxury is meeting the wonderful staff. From welcome to farewell, their flawless yet heartfelt hospitality soothes you in every moment—it’s true healing. We always look forward to our conversations with everyone here. Before each stay, it has become our tradition to visit Niutsuhime Shrine—a UNESCO World Heritage Site about five minutes away by car. This time, we joined a talk held from 5:00 PM in the lobby lounge about Niutsuhime Shrine. The storyteller shared fascinating behind-the-scenes stories that only someone closely connected to the shrine could tell; before we knew it, around 30 minutes had flown by. The next day after checkout, we visited Niutsuhime Shrine again and also explored nearby historic spots we learned about during the talk. It allowed us to worship from a completely new perspective—and we discovered power spots we never would have found on our own. The traditional house café near the shrine that was recommended to us was also wonderful, making this trip even more meaningful than ever! We heard these talks will continue on an irregular basis—if one happens during your stay, we highly recommend joining. We also heard that on some days there is a guided visit starting at 7:00 AM (meeting at the lobby lounge) for worship at Niutsuhime Shrine. No matter how many seasons pass or how much time goes by, this is a place we want to return to again and again. It’s truly a blissful hotel—so full of happiness that it feels impossible to find anywhere else!

Despite concerns about the earthquake, I traveled from Tokyo to Takachiho. I had been planning for a long time to visit Takachiho again, so I decided to go—and I was relieved that there was hardly any impact and I could stay with peace of mind. I was satisfied with everything: the Facility, the meals—everything. First of all, I was surprised that the Room had not only indoor and outdoor baths but also a sauna. It was my first time in my life staying in a Room with a sauna. The meals were explained in a picture-story style, and each dish had its own story and attention to detail, making them both delicious and fun to enjoy. Personally, I especially recommend the salt-baked kappo chicken and the panna cotta. On top of that, there was plenty of playful creativity with a school-festival vibe, and above all it was blissful time surrounded by the staff’s smiles. Nearby are Takachiho Shrine, night kagura performances, and Takachiho Gorge where you can also take a boat ride—an extremely convenient location. Thank you very much. If I have the chance, I’d love to return again.

Located northeast of the Shirakami-Sanchi mountains, Nikkei Onsen sits not far off National Route 7 from Odate. Beyond the romance of a secluded hot-spring inn surrounded by abundant nature, the quality of its waters is among the best in Akita. Two different sources are fed directly to the indoor bath and the open-air bath, each with distinct characteristics. The indoor bath is a sulfur-containing chloride spring with a notably high free hydrogen sulfide content of 15.3 mg/kg, so as you approach you’re enveloped in that unmistakable sulfur aroma. The bathing temperature is set at 41°C, and despite expectations it is neutral but slightly on the acidic side, making it comfortable to soak in. There are also two private baths available for exclusive use, and at the large public bath these can also be enjoyed as reclining baths. The open-air bath is even richer in minerals than the indoor bath: total dissolved solids reach 20.26 g/kg (6.955 g/kg for the indoor bath), giving it an impressively concentrated feel—both in scent and on the skin—like a true medicinal spring. Among the private baths, Urugeru Yukko and Takimi Yukko are spacious; Takimi Yukko even features a luxurious reclining area. All of these springs contain abundant metasilicic acid and metaboric acid, which are said to be beneficial for skin—making it easy to understand why they have been loved for so long. Being able to savor such exceptional waters amid vast natural surroundings is an experience unique to Nikkei Onsen. That said, during summer the open-air area may be covered with vinyl sheets or similar materials to keep horseflies away, which slightly reduces the view—but it’s understandable. The rooms are retro Japanese-Western style accommodations that evoke Japan’s Showa era—not “retro” as an excuse for being outdated. While there’s a nostalgic feel in its design and furnishings, the walls, floors, and beds were clean enough that I could relax comfortably throughout my stay. The meals were delicious Japanese cuisine incorporating local specialties. As someone in my twenties I did find it slightly light for my appetite, but dining isn’t really what this inn is about so it didn’t bother me much. Still—as other reviews mention—there was almost no explanation of each dish, which was honestly disappointing. This is an inn I want to visit again—one of those rare hot-spring retreats where you hope it stays just as it is even if getting there takes a bit of effort.

I love traveling solo to Onsen and visit places all over the whole country. I’d heard of Umegashima Onsen, but for some reason it had never been on my list—what a loss, haha. Last month I stayed at Umegashima Onsen for the first time (at a different Accommodation), and it quickly became one of my favorite Onsen. This time as well, it was great that they only accept a small number of guests and offer private reserved baths. That said, I like to soak in the Onsen whenever I want as many times as I like, so I often choose an Accommodation with an in-Room bath or one that’s available 24 hours. Unfortunately, here it was only available until 11:00 p.m. Also, having to ask the staff each time to get the key made me feel hesitant. I wish I could use it more freely without worrying about bothering anyone. The meals were absolutely delicious. The ingredients were different from what I’m used to in the Izu Peninsula or Hakone, which made everything feel very fresh.

I had a Multiple Night Stay, and to be honest, it exceeded my expectations. Although I couldn't see Mount Fuji from the Room I stayed in, I enjoyed a blissful time on the beautiful garden terrace where the day seemed to pass by in an instant. The medicinal stone bath was incredibly relaxing; after just one soak, my body felt thoroughly warmed to the core. By the second time, I even started looking forward to the bath preparation process itself. The Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. During my stay, housekeeping cleaned while I was out for the day during my Multiple Night Stay. Returning to such a spotless Room felt like coming back to a brand-new space—it was truly impressive! The staff were kind and greeted me warmly every time we crossed paths, making my stay all the more pleasant. When visiting Lake Kawaguchi again, I will definitely return to Hana no Yado Yumefuji! I stayed for two nights as a solo traveler (no dinner, breakfast included). The building itself seems old, but the interior was very clean and I had a comfortable stay. Based on the Accommodation Fee, I had certain expectations, but it exceeded them. I’m glad I chose to stay at Marumo. Thank you very much!

As we entered the country that day from overseas and it was quite a distance, getting there was a bit challenging, but after actually staying there, we were truly satisfied. Our train was delayed and we missed the shuttle bus time, but you waited for us at the station, which really moved us. All of the staff were very kind and took care of us warmly and attentively throughout our stay. The food was delicious, the water in the large public bath was clean, and in the quiet, relaxing atmosphere we were able to unwind at our own pace. Our whole family had a comfortable and enjoyable time, and it became a wonderful memory. We would love to make time to visit again. Thank you very much for giving us such a lovely stay.

We were disappointed that the weather was bad and we couldn’t visit Zao Okama, but we were very satisfied with the Hotel. We were able to relax both in the Room and in the Onsen, and the meals were excellent. What my wife and I liked best was the breakfast—it was the best we’ve had anywhere we’ve stayed so far. This is an Accommodation we would like to stay at again.

The staff provided excellent service, and the amenities were well stocked. The bathroom also had a separate washing area, so we could relax and enjoy a comfortable soak. After watching Disney’s nighttime show, Maihama Station was extremely crowded, so staying at this Hotel near Maihama Station was very convenient.

Right in front of Kugenuma Beach, it was quiet and away from the bustle of Enoshima. It’s a wonderful small Hotel where you can enjoy a special getaway while truly relaxing. The in-Room meals were delicious, and we also appreciated that the Hotel partners with great nearby restaurants and provides Shuttle Service. The staff were all kind as well. We felt it would be an excellent place to stay as a vacation home alternative.

We stayed here to celebrate a birthday. The room was spacious and comfortable. The free-flowing hot spring bath was wonderful and truly relaxing. Dinner was Italian, and everything was delicious—we were very satisfied. The late-night snacks were also plentiful and enjoyable. Breakfast was Japanese-style, and I was surprised at how delicious the grilled sablefish (gin-dara) was. The skin was perfectly crisp, and the rich, flaky flesh was outstanding. All of the other side dishes were also excellent, and we couldn’t stop eating rice. Although it was a simple breakfast, each item was high quality. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with the meals, and this has become an inn we would definitely like to return to. We’d love to stay multiple nights someday, but I forgot to ask what dinner would be like on the second night. We’d love to stay again. All of the staff were kind, making our stay very pleasant—thank you very much. They also prepared a birthday message at our dinner table, which made us feel truly cared for.

I first learned about this Accommodation in a travel magazine and had wanted to visit for years. From the moment I made my Reservation, the staff reached out several times with thoughtful messages, which felt truly warm and welcoming. I’m grateful for their kind advice on transportation as well as nearby recommended spots and restaurants. Set on a vast property, the Accommodation offers wonderful views, and I was thrilled to encounter deer while strolling around. The Onsen had excellent water quality, the Facility was well maintained, and I was able to unwind and soothe my fatigue while enjoying the scenery. A local regular I spoke with in the bath said they stay here every month—I couldn’t help but envy them. It was an outstanding Accommodation where both mind and body could fully relax. I would love to visit again. Every staff member was gentle and attentive, and their hospitality made it possible for me to truly feel at ease throughout my stay—each day felt happy. The hotel’s location was wonderful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool. The ocean-view open-air bath felt incredibly spacious and refreshing. We could relax anywhere on the property and truly enjoy a blissful stay. With drinks stocked in the refrigerator and so many thoughtful services, we were completely satisfied. Dinner was served at a stylish restaurant where we savored delicious Italian cuisine. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel very comfortable. We also appreciated that they changed our table between dinner and breakfast so we could dine from the best seats—such a thoughtful touch. It wasn’t too far from Kumamoto City either, and we’d love to come back again.

This time, my spouse and I traveled around Kumamoto by rental car with our two sons and stayed in Kurokawa Onsen. The atmosphere of the entire Onsen town was very calm—quiet, charming, and a wonderful place to relax at a leisurely pace. The quality of the Onsen water was excellent, and we felt deeply relaxed after bathing. The Ryokan staff were kind and attentive, and the Room was clean and comfortable. It was a very satisfying stay for our whole family and one of the most memorable highlights of our trip to Kumamoto. We highly recommend this Onsen destination for family trips as well.

I was able to spend a truly luxurious time surrounded by peaceful, lush greenery. The hospitality was outstanding. The Room and the meals—everything exceeded my expectations. I’d love to visit again in a different season.

This was my first time visiting Yuda Onsen. It was very comfortable, as we could use the elevator both for going to the hot springs and for meals. The portion sizes were just right, and I was pleasantly surprised by a new way of eating fugu sashimi with sesame oil and salt. Breakfast was also excellent—I enjoyed egg over rice with freshly shaved bonito flakes and even had seconds. The young proprietress and all the staff were very kind, so we had a wonderful stay. I would like to visit again.

In a word, we truly had a wonderful time. The private hot spring in the room, the ocean view from it, the hospitality of all the staff, and the delicious meals. It was an experience that led us to find a place we genuinely want to return to for the first time.
