Hotel Goryukan

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days on a family summer vacation. The exterior is not a new Hotel, but the lobby and baths felt simple overall and left a very clean impression. Our guest Room had very large windows facing the satoyama side, with an absolutely wonderful mountain view. The Room was uncluttered and simple, and the large windows were spotless. The Onsen was spacious, and both the open-air bath and sauna were clean and very relaxing.The Hakuba Happo Pond ropeway and the bus terminal were also within a 10-minute walk, so the location was convenient.It was a wonderful Hotel, but perhaps because the meals are geared toward Western cuisine, we felt there were not many Japanese options at either breakfast or dinner. The rice and mushroom miso soup was very delicious. Overall, we were very satisfied—this was a lovely Hotel.

We stayed for two nights in a Deluxe Japanese-style Room as a base for trekking around Hakuba.The exterior felt a bit dated, but the Hotel and the Room were clean, and we had a comfortable stay.Both the dinner and breakfast buffets featured many stylish creative dishes made with local Shinshu ingredients, and there was also wild boar hot pot, so we ended up eating too much.The staff were polite and excellent.It was a little disappointing that the massage chairs required an extra fee, drinks at dinner were not included, and coffee was not complimentary, but access to nearby sightseeing spots was convenient overall, so we were satisfied.
