    A Hotel in the Big City

    I stayed at a Hotel in the big city for the first time in a while. Since both check-in and check-out were automated, I was a bit confused. It was disappointing that there was only a shower and no bathtub. I stayed on the 17th floor, so I had a clear view of Mt. Fuji, which was very beautiful. As it is in the city, noise carried through and it was hard to fall asleep. I suppose that can’t be helped for a city Hotel.

    I chose this Hotel for an overnight stay after a concert at Yoyogi National Gymnasium because it was convenient enough to walk there.\nThe front desk service at check-in was good, and I understood in advance that the Room would be small and that there would only be a shower, so that was fine. However, what bothered me first was the poor cleaning. I assume the large window is one of the selling points, but it was covered in fingerprints, and there were hardened sticky residues left stuck on it—the level of cleaning was quite poor.\n\nAs for dining, since the concert was scheduled to run until around 9:30 p.m., I planned to use the 5th-floor restaurant advertised as open until 11:00 p.m. (last order 10:30 p.m.). But when I went around 9:50 p.m., the restaurant had already closed. The adjacent bar was open, but even when I entered and made eye contact with an older male staff member, he said nothing—no greeting at all. When I asked, “Is it okay?”, he replied irritably, “Last order is at 10:10.” Even so, when I sat down, he silently took a menu away from another table (the only other guests) and tossed it to me—only a drink menu, with no food menu provided. At that point I left without ordering anything.\n\nIt was extremely unpleasant service. The website gives an impression of a refined Mitsui Group Hotel atmosphere, but in reality it felt like an outdated provincial business hotel; even considering the location premium, it is not worth the price at all.
