  The toothbrush holder placement is inconvenient.

  There was no toothbrush among the amenities on the counter. There was also none in the refill drawer next to the front desk on the first floor. It was in the top drawer in the Room, together with the glasses. Isn’t that an odd place to keep a toothbrush?

  Excellent location

  The location was great and getting around was convenient. The Room had a microwave and a washer-dryer, a freezer, and the bathroom and toilet were separate. The ReFa shower head and hair dryer made the stay very comfortable. Breakfast featured bread from the long-established bakery “Aloft,” with a good selection of hearty savory breads, so we felt fully satisfied. My companion prefers rice, so they would have liked onigiri and miso soup.

  As Hiroshima’s first Mercure hotel,

  I stayed here. As the Tokyu Stay name suggests, it’s clearly designed with long-term stays in mind. However, due to the building layout and location—when I opened the curtains, I was looking right onto the corridor of the neighboring apartment building—I didn’t really feel like I was in Hiroshima. Also, having breakfast with only bread and vegetables felt rather disappointing. At the very least, I would have liked soup and yogurt. The area is also packed with hotels that offer stronger breakfast options and lounge services, so I felt it may be a bit challenging to increase repeat guests going forward. That said, the bed comfort was excellent, just as great as other newer Mercure hotels. If I have the chance, I would stay again.
