    The hot spring water felt wonderful!

    I contacted this Accommodation on a whim, even though it’s usually hard to book on weekends. Due to cancellations caused by heavy rain, they had a Room available. It was a last-minute Reservation, but they accommodated us. The Room was lovely. Perhaps because of the season, I noticed a slightly damp smell in the Room. The meals were just the right amount and very tasty. The in-room bath was also very relaxing. Thank you very much.

    Diamond Member Exclusive Benefit Issue, Staff Training

    1 The “Diamond member” perk was supposed to include free drinks in the refrigerator, but it was empty from the start. Disappointing. You need to buy drinks in.g advance at a liquor shop. 2 Please properly clean the dark grime that accumulates on the bottom of the open-air bath attached to the Room—was this a shortcut? The private family bath is good. 3 The hot spring quality is outstanding, which makes it even more disappointing that the staff do not seem to know about its alkaline, silky texture and skin-beautifying benefits. What a waste.

    My first experience at Kotohira Onsen was wonderful.

    The facilities are of a high standard, and we were impressed by the smooth texture of the hot spring water and the quality of the cuisine.

    It feels like time travel!

    Stayed during a trip with my two sisters to coincide with the Hita Ontayaki Festival. The staff were friendly and kind, the food was delicious, and everything from the retro Room to the Onsen's large bath and the compact Japanese-style garden was wonderful. We stayed in a Room by the river, and the sound of flowing water was very soothing. Since it is a relocated building of an old Japanese house or Western-style mansion, I would love to stay in other Rooms as well.

    Would love to visit again.

    An accommodation that offers the same high level of satisfaction even on repeat visits. What do you expect from customer service? What amenities do you look for? These factors may influence the rating. Considering the price, this is an accommodation I would love to visit again. The shabu-shabu was excellent! The dried fish was also amazing! Thank you very much.

    It had been a while, but it was as great as ever.

    We stayed here to show appreciation to my wife's parents. (Two Rooms for four people including us as a couple) Having stayed here several times before, we already knew the food was excellent and the bath was relaxing. My wife's parents were very pleased, and choosing this place turned out to be the right decision. We would love to stay here again.

    Comfortable and well-located (2nd stay, summer vacation)

    We enjoyed a relaxing 3-night stay at this accommodation surrounded by nature, perfect for both parents and a first-grader to unwind. There is a pool with a slide nearby that uses river water, which is incredibly clean. The staff at the accommodation are friendly and provide helpful local information. Within an hour's drive, you can shop for stylish "monpe" in Yame or find affordable pottery in the village of Onta-yaki. As fans of traditional crafts, we appreciated the convenient location near Yame and Mameda. Additionally, there’s a MUJI store and convenience stores nearby, making shopping easy even with children. The room features an indoor Onsen bath as well as a semi-open-air bath. It was clean with futon bedding and very comfortable to stay in. Our room also had a balcony relaxation space where we enjoyed ice cream while unwinding. The meals were luxurious yet not overly heavy, and absolutely delicious. Even our child enjoyed their kid’s meal. We would love to stay here again!

    We recommend.

    For those concerned about uneven surfaces on rainy days or with mobility issues, the steps and footing might be a concern. The smell upon entering the room was noticeable. However!! The onsen and cuisine were exceptional. Relaxing on the tatami mats and enjoying the comfortable bedding made for a rejuvenating stay. It was an accommodation that made me want to visit again. Thank you very much! Looking forward to staying again!

    I stayed at the accommodation hoping to enjoy the onsen while admiring nature. The accommodation and onsen were very satisfying, but the view from the onsen was only of houses, which was a bit disappointing. The atmosphere of the accommodation was very pleasant. The meals were also very delicious; however, the first glass of draft beer had an unpleasant smell, which was disappointing. It had a gamey odor. When I requested a replacement, I was told it was fine because it had been cleaned, but I wasn't entirely satisfied with this response. While only the draft beer was disappointing, everything else was highly satisfying.

    We had an enjoyable stay with our children.

    My 6-year-old son loved the Onsen in the room and bathed multiple times. Both the adult loungewear and children's jinbei were comfortable, so we purchased some as souvenirs to take home. The meals were served in manageable portions, and both the vegetables and rice were delicious. The room was clean, equipped with an oil heater, allowing us to stay warm and cozy.

    Silky Smooth Hot Springs

    It was a stay to celebrate my mother's birthday. The onsen in the room made our skin smooth, and with scrubs and peeling options available, we were able to relax fully. The meals were delightful, featuring seasonal yamame fish, firefly squid, and the fragrant aroma of myoga. It was a delicious dinner. We also loved the sansho pepper and the towels in the room so much that we took them home as souvenirs.

    Delicious meals

    Hatago Kayausagi Last year, the head chef we liked changed, so we stayed to check on the food with some concern. Quietly asking around, we found out that the new head chef was originally an apprentice and had been making the broth for a long time. The basic flavors remained unchanged. While there seem to be slight changes in presentation, we were relieved by the consistent deliciousness of the dishes. As an avid traveler staying at accommodations over 40 times a year, I can confidently say that Kayausagi's meals are number one for Japanese cuisine. The bath features a silky onsen quality that's great for your skin. As you can see from its traditional architecture, it may not suit everyone's taste, but it's definitely an onsen accommodation worth visiting.

    I will use it again.

    This is my fourth visit. The detached room with an open-air bath is wonderful and my favorite. With the Sapporo Beer Garden and Iichiko Hita Distillery nearby, I always have a great time traveling.

    Facility where you can relax

    I was satisfied with both the meals and the Onsen. The only disappointment was that I couldn't use the coffee service in the lounge. There was no one around to ask about it.

    Very satisfied.

    We visited for a girls' trip twice a year. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The hot water was amazing, and we took a bath several times. The rice was surprisingly delicious, and both of us had seconds. The only downside was that the room was like a warehouse, so it was a bit cold. It was a property we would definitely like to visit again.

    As soon as we arrive...

    As soon as we arrived at the parking lot, a staff member came out of nowhere and immediately helped us with our luggage to the front desk. This time, we stayed at a separate building called Madoromi. The antique interior was very calming. However, it was quite inconvenient due to the lack of power outlets, and it was disappointing that there was no Wi-Fi. Also, there were two stink bugs in the room on the second floor, which was... for me, who dislikes insects. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, with portions large enough to fill us up, leaving us very satisfied. There was an accident on my side during dinner, but the staff handled it graciously without any displeasure. Thank you very much. All the staff were kind and very helpful until the end. It was a very satisfying stay.

    I was impressed.

    A slightly inconvenient location, but taking advantage of that, this luxurious inn offers detached guest rooms with elaborate designs and open-air baths. The water is soft, neither too hot nor too cold. Both breakfast and dinner were the most delicious I've had recently. It was my award-winning inn of the year.
