It was a fulfilling Multiple Night Stay!
I stayed here again during my Kyoto sightseeing trip. It rained every day in Kyoto, but the location was excellent and it was a short walk through the station concourse from the Hachijo Exit, which was very helpful. There was a coffee machine in the Room and a water dispenser in the hallway, so I could also enjoy spending time in the Room. The breakfast restaurant was spacious, and in addition to Japanese and Western dishes, there was a great selection of vegetables and fruit. It was also nice that takeaway coffee was available.

It depends on the price.
Right in front of the station, so it’s very convenient. And there’s an AEON right next door. There are no basic skincare amenities in the Room. For some reason I forgot to bring lotion, so I ran to AEON. Very convenient. There are no basic skincare items, but they do provide the usual amenities otherwise. The roomwear is a one-piece type. The Hotel has a lot of international guests. The lobby is always crowded, and even if you want to ask the staff something, it takes time. Check-in and check-out are done by machine. There are a decent number of machines, so the wait wasn’t as long as I expected. The staff all seemed very busy and somewhat stretched thin. Not only in the lobby but also at the breakfast buffet—everyone greeted us properly, but there were times when coffee cups were missing or some of the food area was messy. I saw international guests struggling with how to serve themselves or use the coffee machine several times (I discreetly explained how to use it once). Depending on the time, you may have to line up to enter for breakfast. There’s a wide variety of dishes and many kinds of drinks. Nothing ever ran out. The Room was clean, but perhaps because the Facility is older, there was a slight smell in the unit bath—maybe from the sink drain? After using it for a while, I stopped noticing it. One of the international staff members cleaning Rooms was a very pleasant woman, which made me feel good. This time I was able to stay at a very reasonable price with breakfast included. The Room was spacious and even had a sofa. I mentioned various things about breakfast too, but it was more than worth the price. Great location overall—I was very satisfied. If I can stay again at this kind of price like this time, I’d definitely come back.

We were able to stay at an affordable rate.
After making an expensive Reservation during peak season, I found a much cheaper rate and decided on a last-minute trip to Kyoto. If I had to mention one drawback, it was disappointing that I couldn’t plug in a USB device.

The snow crab at Le Plaisir’s dinner buffet is a bit too salty.
Every year I come just for dinner during the crab buffet season, but this year the Accommodation Plan was offered at a good price, so I stayed overnight. The Room was neither particularly good nor bad, but while the buffet price keeps going up year after year, it feels like it has been shrinking—no more sashimi, no more sushi, and fewer seafood hors d’oeuvres. This year in particular, the snow crab that should have been the highlight was far too salty—so much so that I wondered if it was unhealthy—and partway through I started squeezing out the liquid with my fingers before eating (and it was still quite salty). This was especially disappointing. I think if you let them stand after thawing, some of the brine would drain off, but maybe that would lead to complaints that they are “dry” or “empty.” In any case, simply making the protective brine used during freezing a bit less salty would make a big difference, so I hope this will be improved in the future.

The meals were delicious, and I was able to rest comfortably!
Stayed in a South Wing Twin Room. Meals were the Plaisir buffet. I visit Plaisir often and know what to expect, so as usual there was a wide selection and everything was delicious. This was my first time staying in the South Wing. It isn’t very spacious, but it was well cleaned and I had no complaints. If I had to mention one thing, I wish the Room were a bit brighter. There is a mirror above the bed, which makes it feel more spacious. Since it’s right in front of Kyoto Station, there are quite a lot of international guests, and the lobby has an overseas atmosphere. The buffet seemed to have many Japanese guests who are used to it. I stay here from time to time, and Miyako Hotel still has the reassuring feel of a long-established Hotel—both the Rooms and the meals. I also use The Westin Miyako Kyoto, and each offers its own kind of comfort that fits its position. I hope it will continue to be a Hotel loved in Kyoto for years to come.

Convenient access to the Shinkansen Got bitten by insects while sleeping
On the Hachijo Exit side, you can walk through the station building to the crosswalk in front of the Hotel. The Room is spacious. Drinking water is provided by filling up purified water outside the Room. Although I did not open the Room window, I was bitten by an insect while sleeping. The front desk had anti-itch ointment available to borrow. The type of insect was unknown.

Conveniently located near the station.
The Room was spacious and well cleaned. It was disappointing that there was no coin laundry. The TV was broken, so we were moved to a different Room. Overall, it was better than the price and very good. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity.

Conveniently located near Kyoto Station, with a practical Room. Since it was summer and the rate was lower, it was a great value stay. I’d like to stay again.

Thank you for hosting our family trip.
I chose this Hotel because it is close to the station, which made getting around very convenient. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the Room and air conditioning were well maintained, making my stay comfortable. I would like to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto. Thank you very much.

It’s best to do some research before deciding.
In this historic “capital,” it felt like I was seeing what it had come to in the end. Even allowing for the gap between expectations and reality, Hachijo has already become merely a place to sleep—built around serving only foreign visitors. The automated check-in gave me the clear impression they’ve decided to stop providing human service, and sure enough, the person at the counter was rude and seemed there only to handle Q&A. A front desk’s role is hospitality. There are certainly Hotels where even foreign staff provide that properly—so this place left me thinking, “I shouldn’t have spoken.” Breakfast was also disappointing. It’s rare for something to be this “ordinary.” With food that even felt like a school lunch, I was strongly let down again: “So it really is just a Facility that makes you sleep and feeds you.”

I wish you had been a bit more considerate.
When I happened to look under the bed, I found underwear (briefs) that appeared to have been left behind by a previous guest. I informed the front desk and received an apology from someone who seemed to be the head of housekeeping, but after that there was no offer such as changing rooms. At checkout, payment was processed by a machine and there was no apology either. I also work in a Hotel, and I believe it is sincere to apologize at checkout and provide some kind of follow-up. I wasn’t asking for anything in particular, but I don’t think anyone would find it sanitary to discover a stranger’s underwear. Even though it was a single room, I wish there had been more consideration. Also, while I understand the building is old, dust had accumulated on the light above the sink, and some wallpaper was peeling—overall it felt worn down. Breakfast was tasty, but I would have liked a few more meat dishes.

Very reasonably priced for the convenience and Facility. Last time, we were automatically upgraded to a much better Room.

A cozy place to stay.
I’ve stayed here several times in a row recently. Each stay is usually about four nights, and I always feel truly comfortable. The access to the station and nearby restaurants is excellent, and I really appreciate that you can store my luggage. From the Room in the main building, you can also see the station, so relaxing by the window is a wonderful way to spend time. It’s not an over-the-top kind of hospitality, but I feel the solid quality of getting all the basics right. I would definitely like to stay again.

Convenient and fully equipped with everything you need.
I stayed for one night with my mother. It was convenient to be able to walk from Kyoto Station, and we enjoyed meeting my eldest daughter for dinner and taking a break at the Hotel after shopping at the station. Dinner was even better than expected. The breakfast buffet was also excellent—my mother in her 80s loved it, and it made our trip very satisfying. The only thing to note is that the bathroom floor was a little slippery.

It was spacious.
Although I was traveling alone, I stayed in a twin Room! The moment I opened the door, I couldn’t help saying, “So spacious!” The high ceilings and many mirrors made it feel even larger. The two-seater sofa by the window also had plenty of space. Since it’s a long-established Hotel, the overall atmosphere is a bit retro, but that actually gave it a sense of elegance and calm that I really liked. I’d love to stay again.

Miyako Hotel for the First Time in 40 Years
After joining a 3-night, 4-day tour around the Kii Peninsula, I planned an additional stay in Kyoto. I was directed to a self check-in kiosk, but the screen was very hard to see because the lighting reflected on it—maybe because I’m short. When I hesitated to enter my details, a staff member entered my name for me. That part was helpful, but then they were called away by another guest and there was no further explanation, so I wasn’t sure what to do next. My Room was also extremely far from the elevator, and I complained while dragging my heavy suitcase all the way there. But when I opened the door, I was surprised—they had upgraded me to a family room. With a spacious Room and a bathroom with a separate washing area, all my travel fatigue disappeared at once. Thank you for your hospitality.

A bit far from the station.
Although it seemed close to the station, it is actually a 10-minute walk from the Shinkansen exit and 15 minutes from the subway station, which feels far. The food is average. There is no live egg-cooking station. The selection of fruit is limited.

Conveniently located a 6-minute walk from Kyoto Station (Shinkansen). The only drawback is that the self check-in machine is difficult to use; otherwise, there were almost no complaints.

A Hotel That Won’t Disappoint
I ended up staying for two nights. The location is as convenient as ever—no complaints. Both times, my Room was upgraded, which was great. A pleasant surprise was the breakfast. I usually always choose the breakfast at “Uoman,” which I love, but since I needed to leave early, I used the Japanese/Western buffet. There was a wide variety of Western-style salads, so I enjoyed plenty of vegetables in the morning. The vegetarian options I tried were also delicious. I would like to stay again.

The guests upstairs were very noisy, stomping around.
Thank you for upgrading our Room. The Room was comfortable, but there was very loud noise from the floor above until late at night. We asked the front desk to address it, and the noise decreased. There seemed to be many foreign guests, but I would like everyone to follow the rules.

Conveniently located just steps from the station!
I made an early Reservation for a single Room, and at check-in—just like last time—a great Room was prepared for me. Every time I consider switching to another Hotel, but the excellent location, meals, and cleanliness keep me highly satisfied, so it has become my regular choice. The breakfast venue can be busy, but seating is handled efficiently and you can enjoy a wide variety of both Japanese and Western dishes. Above all, the relaxing and comfortable stay here is an appeal I cannot find at other Hotels.

Early Summer in Kyoto
This was our first stay since last Christmas, when we visited for dinner and stayed overnight. This time, dinner was a set Japanese meal. Everything looked beautiful and tasted wonderful. It’s also a Hotel that makes us want to use it for small family anniversaries. I’ve heard in the news that visitors from certain countries have decreased sharply, but on the day we stayed there was a tour group from Spain. Kyoto still feels truly international. There were also many students on school trips, and I heard that students from another school would be staying the next day as well for their trip. Having a long-established Hotel where both international guests and Japanese students can stay with peace of mind is something I really appreciate, along with its convenient access near Kyoto Station. If possible, I’d love to visit again during the autumn foliage season next time.

Although this Hotel ...
Although this Hotel has been around for decades, it has been renovated and is kept very clean. Some of the Facility and equipment show their age, but they are well maintained and I did not feel any inconvenience. Many guests are from overseas, and the elevators can get crowded when tour groups arrive.\n\nCheck-in is done via a self-service kiosk, which is common these days, but staff are nearby and can assist when needed. The cloakroom staff also greet you when you approach, and the service is very polite.\n\nIt is a 1-minute walk from Kyoto Station, with easy access to the restaurants and shops on the 1st floor of Kintetsu Kyoto Station. There is also an AEON Mall one block away, which is very convenient. While it is not a Business Hotel, it offers excellent value for money, and I personally like it very much.

Thank you for upgrading us to a larger Room.
I attended a conference at the Kyoto International Conference Center. It was quite a long walk to the subway station, and my feet started to hurt a bit. The upgraded Room was spacious, but it was in the annex and at the very end, so it took quite a distance to get there. For breakfast, I had the buffet on the first day, but it was extremely crowded and not an atmosphere where you could enjoy a relaxed breakfast. On the second day, I ordered a set meal with rice porridge at the Japanese restaurant. To be honest, the porridge was far from what I had expected. It was cold and mushy, and it was disappointing that it didn’t seem freshly made. Thank you very much.
