Located at the northern foothills of the lush Rokko Mountain, Arima Onsen. The clear streams emerging from deep valleys reflect the greenery and autumn leaves of the changing seasons, blending with the charm of the Onsen. The stone walls and sloping streets evoke the history and romance of a town that has flourished since ancient times, as recorded in the Nihon Shoki. Among them, our establishment, once known as "Kita no Bo," was bestowed the name "Hyoe" by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and we welcome you with the utmost hospitality preserved and passed down through the ages.
From the windows of the rooms at Gekkoen Korokan, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Rokko that resemble a painting. The lobby, bathhouses, and other areas also offer magnificent scenery, making it one of the best locations in Arima. Indulge in a variety of Onsen experiences within the facility and fully enjoy the original hot springs of Arima.
Arima Onsen, one of Japan's oldest hot spring resorts and counted among the three most famous onsen in Japan. During the Meiji era, when Kobe opened its port to foreign trade, many foreigners visited Arima Onsen. They also visited the renowned autumn foliage spot "Kiyomizu-dera," which later became a foreigner-exclusive hotel called "Kiyomizu Hotel." The lush green grounds of "Arima Sanso Goshobessho" still retain the sacred atmosphere of that time. Goshobessho was established by Shirobei Kanai XV, the current head of "Tosen Goshobo," Arima Onsen's oldest accommodation. All 10 suite rooms at Goshobessho are detached and feature private onsen baths and low-temperature saunas known as "Thermal Rooms." One of these suites even includes the world's first treehouse-style open-air bath.
At the foot of Mount Rokko lies Arima Onsen, said to be the oldest in Japan. The kunugi tree, with its budding, fresh green, autumn leaves, and bare branches, may symbolize the joys of the seasons. Two golden hot springs with different mineral compositions and a radon-rich silver spring spread out as if hidden within the forest. Enjoy moments of relaxation, rest, and conversation amidst the natural hot springs and serene environment.
The "Hotel Kobe Rokko Guesthouse," a newly constructed and elegantly refined property, has been established within the Setonaikai National Park Rokko grounds as an accredited lodging project under the National Natural Park Act, marking its debut after nearly a century. The natural scenery offers a grand panorama unique to Mount Rokko, where mountains, the city center, and the sea converge, creating a dramatic and expansive view due to the steep elevation differences.
