Shintetsu Rokko Station × Highly rated Hotel·Ryokan

I live in Kobe and have been hiking Mt. Rokko and the surrounding mountains frequently for many years. I often passed by “Ocean Terrace Ajisai” and had been curious about it for a long time. After reading the Reviews, the food looked absolutely delicious. So I made a Reservation for our wedding anniversary. The meals more than lived up to their reputation—beautifully presented, wonderfully flavorful, and truly outstanding. Both dinner and breakfast left us happily stuffed. Everything was delicious, but I was especially impressed by how surprising and exquisite the fig dengaku and peach potage were—and it was my first time in my life to be genuinely amazed at how incredibly good Narazuke could be. The dashimaki tamago that appeared with a burst of steam when they opened the bamboo mat was also exceptional. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind and attentive, sharing enjoyable stories that made us feel at ease. The view was slightly hazy when we arrived, but when I woke up around midnight and stepped out onto the terrace, there were the night lights from Kobe to Osaka—and a full moon! I was thrilled by both our good luck and its beauty. And in the morning, seeing trees wrapped in mist—Mt. Rokko like I’d never seen before—moved me again… I would love to stay again in a different season. When making the Reservation, I saw the Room size in square meters and assumed it would be compact, but I must have misread it—it felt very spacious and relaxing, which was wonderful too.

Two adults and our child (5 years old) stayed for one night, and it was our first glamping experience. We were all thrilled the moment we saw the breathtaking view from the Room. With so many activities provided, plus relaxing moments like reading in the Room and making coffee, we enjoyed every minute from arrival to check-out without missing a thing. For dinner, they arranged a fun cooking experience with our attendant and our little “chef,” which made everything taste even better than usual. All of the attendants kindly accommodated last-minute requests and interacted naturally with our child, so we were able to stay very comfortably. Thank you so much for such a truly memorable time. (Our child did catch their foot on furniture corners and near the entrance door threshold, but perhaps that’s part of an authentic camping experience—not everything being overly padded or protected. The Room was wonderful, letting us feel the changing expressions of the mountains up close.)

My spouse and I stay here every year, but this year we invited my elderly mother and came as three. The spacious Room on the 6th floor was our first time, and the view was wonderful and stylish. My mother loved it, and I am truly grateful that we were able to make a meaningful trip for her.

Despite booking on short notice, we found a wonderful Accommodation. In response to our request for consideration regarding parking, you contacted us immediately, and we truly appreciate your exceptionally prompt support—something we rarely experience even after staying at many Accommodations. The amenities were excellent, and the two of us were already talking about visiting again soon. We hope to build a long and positive relationship with you.

This was my second visit since coming in May. My dog (my beloved “daughter”) was thrilled. It was about 5°C cooler than down below, but the late-summer heat was still intense, and it felt hot in the sun. My dog ran around the nature-filled dog run and had a great time. Because it was a weekday after the Obon holidays, it wasn’t crowded, so we could relax and enjoy ourselves. The building was clean, and the Room was also very clean. The large public bath felt like we had it to ourselves, so we could unwind and fully enjoy it. (We went twice.) The food was delicious as well. Since it’s close to home, it’s easy to plan travel time both ways, and for me this Facility has an ideal location. I’d love to take another overnight trip with my dog. All of the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for everything. This is a wonderful Accommodation where you can enjoy both the gold and silver Onsen. Not only are the baths spacious, they are also kept extremely clean, making for a truly relaxing and rejuvenating time. The Shuttle Service staff, as well as all team members, were excellent, and the in-Room dining was delicious—there is nothing to complain about. When we visit Arima Onsen again, we will stay here. As we did last year, we stayed again this year for our cousins’ trip. Unfortunately, the weather was bad last year, but this year it was sunny, so we decided to definitely use Choraku’s pool. At check-in, we enjoyed delicious tea and sweets in the lounge, then rested a bit in our Room before heading to Choraku. We went into the pool (there were lots of children, but we still enjoyed it), and then used Choraku’s open-air bath. After returning, it was time for dinner. The meal was delicious again this time. The main dish at dinner was venison, which had no gamey smell and tasted great. There were also various drinks that paired well with the food, and this time we ordered the wine pairing. The price was very reasonable. After dinner we took a short break, then went back to Choraku to enjoy a mini concert. After returning, we had a nightcap in the lounge, took another bath, and went to bed. In the morning we woke up slowly, took another bath, and then had breakfast. This time we could choose between Japanese-style or Western-style breakfast; since the bread served here is incredibly good, we chose Western-style and asked for all types of bread so the three of us could share a little of each. We had tea in the lounge again, returned to our Room to pack up our belongings—and then it was already time to check out. The staff were pleasant, the Room was clean and comfortable—an easy Hotel to relax in—and since you can also enjoy Choraku’s Facilities and events as well, there’s plenty to do. We had another wonderful stay this time too. We’re planning our cousins’ trip here again next year as well—thank you in advance.

This was my first time visiting Arima Onsen. I booked a good-value Plan with a lighter meal, but there was so much food that I’m sorry I couldn’t finish it all. The Onsen tickets were included, so I could enjoy other Onsens as well—it was wonderful. The Shuttle Service to the bus stop was very helpful. All the staff were very kind, and I was truly impressed. I would love to visit again.

Three generations of our family, including myself, stayed here. We truly appreciated the thoughtful care shown throughout our stay, especially the consideration for my mother, who has difficulty walking, and we were able to relax comfortably. When we visit Arima Onsen again, we would love to stay here. Thank you very much.

Twelve of us gathered to celebrate my father’s 88th birthday. The Premium Suite Room was more than spacious enough for six people per Room, and we were completely satisfied. Drinks and snacks were free, and the service was exceptional. We also enjoyed table tennis and karaoke, and we owe this wonderful gathering to this Hotel. Thank you very much.

The bright, clean Room was in an Onsen town surrounded by soothing greenery, and we were able to relax and take our time. We stay at various Hotels, but our stay here was truly relaxing both physically and mentally. Time for healing is precious, and we felt it was thanks to the staff’s careful and attentive work. The bath was wonderful, and the meals were absolutely delicious. Thank you for a lovely time.

I traveled solo as a woman and enjoyed both the Gold Bath and the Silver Bath. The hospitality was outstanding. Everyone greeted me warmly, and the younger staff and international staff were kind and welcoming with friendly smiles. Dinner was delicious—the seafood, mountain specialties, and sake were all excellent. I’d be happy if you could sell the pre-meal vinegar in the shop as well; I really liked it. Since I usually skip breakfast, I appreciated having a dinner-only Plan. I may visit again on another solo trip, and I also recommend it for family travel.

This is my second stay at Hanakoyado. I became a repeat guest because this is where you find the answer to whether high-quality Onsen and gourmet dining can truly be enjoyed at a reasonable price. The traditional wooden building and tiled bath are full of classic Onsen atmosphere. Even more luxuriously, the Kinsen flows continuously, and when you sink into the tub, the overflowing water swirls as it runs off. I also enjoyed a steam bath using the high-temperature source spring. The rice cooked in the okudosan is delicious, and the fish and meat carefully grilled over charcoal with radiant heat are more than satisfying. To top it off, curry rice is served at the end as well. There is an Onsen experience and cuisine here that feel wonderfully untouched by modern times.

No wonder so many guests rate this Ryokan so highly!! The staff were simply wonderful, and I was impressed from the very start of the morning. Although the staff member assisting us was not Japanese, the explanations were clear and made us excited for the day right away. The half-buffet offered nothing but delicious choices, and we loved being able to grill items over charcoal at our own table. We were completely satisfied from breakfast onward! Even after checkout, they saw us off with warm smiles—this has become one of the Ryokan we definitely want to visit again. Thank you to all the staff.

We stayed here for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The Room was clean, the view was great, and it was very comfortable. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, and we were impressed throughout. Above all, the food was outstanding. We were amazed by the live ice cream presentation, the live rolled-omelet presentation, and two surprise dishes that weren’t even on the menu. Everything was truly delicious, beautifully presented, and the decorative vegetable carvings were adorable. As someone who doesn’t eat much, I couldn’t finish it because it was so filling—so even big eaters will be satisfied with the portion size. There were also many kinds of drinks available with unlimited refills, and we really felt their warm hospitality. We would love to come again! Thank you for such wonderful memories!

Thank you very much for having me stay at your Accommodation for two nights and three days from Saturday, July 25 to Monday, July 27. This was my first solo summer trip staying at an Onsen Ryokan, and I was truly happy with how spacious the Room was. I also really appreciated the complimentary services such as delicious sweets and bottled water. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, including shabu-shabu made with Kobe beef, a specialty of Hyogo Prefecture, as well as fish dishes such as salmon. This time I used the private Onsen at night by myself for the first time. In the past, I have visited Onsens with my family in places like Yatsugatake (spanning Nagano and Yamanashi) and Aizu in Fukushima. Being able to enjoy a private Onsen alone this time was very relaxing, and it was wonderful to soak slowly without worrying about anyone else around. Lastly, I had a great time on this summer trip during my two-night stay from July 25 to July 27. I will be busy with work again, but after saving up more of my salary, I would love to come back. Once again, thank you very much for taking care of me during those three days starting July 25.

We chose this Hotel after reading Reviews and checking the price. All of the staff were kind, and the check-in explanation was very easy to understand. The Room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable for a relaxing stay. We were very satisfied because we could enjoy both Taiko no Yu and the Hotel’s Onsen! After getting tired from walking up the hill before arriving at the Hotel, the cold welcome drink was perfect! Our whole family was happy with our stay. Thank you!

The Room was thoroughly cleaned down to the smallest details, and we were able to stay very comfortably. Since our Room faced the river, we could hear the kajika frogs calling at night and enjoy a wonderfully luxurious atmosphere. Also, whenever we passed staff members in the hallway and elsewhere, they greeted us thoughtfully, and I was impressed by how many of them showed such attentive hospitality. The meals exceeded our expectations in both flavor and variety, and every dish was delicious. The dining area also showed careful consideration in its seating arrangement, creating a refined, high-quality space for dining. As for the baths, we could enjoy both Kinsen and Ginsen without leaving the property, with three different bath areas available—more than enough to fully relax and enjoy ourselves. At first I was surprised to hear that amenities are not placed in the Room but are picked up in the lobby to bring back with you; however, once we tried it, it felt flexible and actually more convenient. When we visit Arima Onsen again, my family agreed there won’t be any other choice.

I visited for a day trip. The staff were very friendly. It was in a quiet location, a little away from the Onsen town. I arrived by car about an hour early, so I went shopping in the Onsen town about a 12-minute walk away, and they picked me up by car at the tourist information center. It was raining, so I really appreciated being picked up even though it was just a day trip. Thank you very much. Next time, I would like to stay overnight.

This was my third stay. After arriving while it was still light out, I first enjoyed Goshobo’s semi-mixed Onsen and the large public bath with its golden Onsen. Since it was summer, even a short soak left me sweating nonstop. In the large bath, I shared the water with someone for the first time here; we had a pleasant chat and ended up soaking a bit longer. Dinner was a lighter, seafood-focused course. The chilled Awaji spiny lobster soup was a perfect match with Koshu wine. The highlight began with sashimi of meita-garei flounder and aged sea bream, followed by more Akashi-ura fish to enjoy. The charcoal-grilled Spanish mackerel and the Akashi sea bream acqua pazza were both seasonal specials you can only have here at this time of year. The broth in the acqua pazza was much lighter than last autumn’s filefish version. To finish, the cheese course left me fully satisfied in both quality and quantity—thank you for the wonderful meal. For breakfast, I switched back to the standard menu: milk, soup, vegetables—an all-around delicious plate—beautiful French toast, and yogurt meant to savor the jam and honey. Everything tasted exactly as good as expected. Even the mini breads were great; this time, the buttery croissant was my favorite. In my Room bath, I topped up little by little while letting it cool slightly, enjoying a pleasantly lukewarm golden Onsen. The breeze through the window felt wonderful: lush greenery everywhere, distant summer skies, murmuring sounds of life outside—and cicadas loud enough not to lose to them. Summer Onsen really is something special. After breakfast I alternated between the golden Onsen and the low-temperature sauna. It was an extremely satisfying holiday stay. Thank you very much. P.S.
