Skilled in traditional ink-line marking, Heikichi was known locally as “Sumiya no Hei-san” (“Hei from the ink shop”). From this nickname came the house name Tanpei, later renamed “Tanpei,” and it has since been operated as the oldest Accommodation in Tango Town to this day. The spirit of hospitality of “Sumiya no Hei-san” has been passed down through six generations and continues today.

Our accommodation was originally a chirimen weaving factory, which we transformed ourselves into a budget-friendly accommodation. We welcome not only domestic guests but also backpackers from all over the world, creating opportunities for travelers to enjoy unique and serendipitous encounters. Our accommodation is small, with only 4 rooms available. Room types include traditional Japanese-style private rooms and Western-style private rooms with beds. We have spacious shared areas equipped with manga and picture books for your enjoyment.
