Hiei beside the clear waters of the Takano River, Yase is a tranquil corner of Kyoto.This area is known as Japan’s oldest steam-bathing site, where it is said that Prince Oama—wounded by an arrow during the Jinshin War—was healed in a kiln bath offered by local villagers. Named moksa, a Sanskrit word meaning “liberation,” our property features three fully private saunas, “Joan,” available by Reservation only, with cold baths filled with spring water from Mt. Hiei; the restaurant “MALA,” where Ohara vegetables and Omi beef are finished over a wood fire; and the lounge “Kikyorai,” overlooking a moss garden.
