Fuku-no Station (Gifu Prefecture) × Highly rated Hotel·Ryokan

The guest lounge was very convenient and great! Tea, coffee, ice, and miso soup were available 24 hours a day for self-service, which was extremely helpful. Also, since it’s attached to a roadside station, we were able to have breakfast there as well. I’d like to stay here again!

I was able to relax in a renovated traditional house while enjoying the lush garden view. The location is also close to the “Udatsu Townscape,” and even after the 10:00 check-out, you can leave your car parked until 12:00, which made it easy to look around. Breakfast is simple—rice with a few side dishes—but it also included local pickles, which was good. Please note that the Room has only a shower, and the private bath is available only until 20:00, so if you arrive in the evening you may not be able to use the bath.

I stayed here to watch Gujo Odori. The lobby and shared Facility had a retro Showa-era vibe, but everything felt clean, and the Room had been newly and stylishly renovated. There is no large public bath. It was a bit inconvenient that there was no door between the toilet and the washbasin area. The Shuttle Service by minibus to near the Gujo Odori venue was very convenient. Breakfast starts early, and checkout is also early at 10:00, which may be typical for an old-fashioned Hotel, but it did feel a little rushed. Thank you very much.

The Room was “Mangetsu.” There are four Rooms, with over 20 tatami mats across the main tatami area and the bedroom. With a total of over 97 m², it felt like a truly luxurious space. The furnishings and Room coordination were wonderful. The hinoki bath was very spacious, and because the added hot water was quite hot, we could soak without it cooling down. In the garden, there was even a discreet box with straw sandals inside, and there was an annex that remained closed—both adding to the atmosphere. Service: The front desk staff were kind. They accommodated two changes to our dinner plans. It was also fun hearing local stories. Meals: Breakfast was delicious. Dinner was at a local sushi restaurant. The grilled isaki (grunt fish) was plump and tasty, enjoyed together with its crispy skin. The sushi portions were very generous as well. If I had to ask for one thing, I would have liked a few more vegetable dishes.

We stayed on the first day of a long weekend. Despite our late arrival due to a change in plans, we were warmly welcomed and assisted with great care. We appreciated the thoughtful suggestion to prepare futons on the first floor for my elderly parents with weak legs. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and even my usually light-eating son had seconds of rice. It made us want to try dinner next time as well. We hope to stay longer during our next visit. I wasn't very fond of saunas myself, but since my wife likes them, we chose this property. At first, I thought it would be fine if only my wife used it, but I was surprised by the facility's completeness and decided to give it a try. It was incredibly pleasant, and I was able to enter the cold bath smoothly, which felt amazing!! I would love to visit again! Thank you very much!!

The Ryokan staff were very attentive, and the food was excellent. I would love to stay again if I have the opportunity.

A very comfortable ryokan with a nice futon. My only comment is about the pillows—they are a bit hard and uncomfortable. Other than that, everything is perfect. The view of the river from the balcony is beautiful, and the room is very clean.

Overall, the property is very stylish and beautifully maintained. The courtyard plants were also lovely and well cared for, which was relaxing, and I was very satisfied. I was also happy that the provided hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner were high quality, so I could use them with peace of mind. What was disappointing was that there were no yukata or loungewear provided. Also, the pillows on the bed seemed like an air-fiber type and felt clean, but the pillow for the floor futon had different filling (cotton?), and after resting my head on it I developed what seemed like a dust or mite allergy. The pillowcase was clean, but having measures in place for that would make it even more reassuring to use.
