Natural Onsen baths and a wide variety of delicious dishes. It feels like a luxury Onsen Hotel from Japan’s Showa bubble era. There are older and newer wings, and from everywhere we enjoyed stunning views of the calm, rolling waves of Mikawa Bay. The lighthouse was charming and atmospheric. The many sets of Mikawa samurai armor and bridal kimono also gave us a sense of the history of Katahara Castle from the Sengoku period. Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality.

Unfortunately, it rained with occasional cloudy skies, so it was a shame we couldn’t enjoy the spacious garden terrace in sunny weather. Going down the stairs without a handrail felt a bit scary because it seemed slippery, but overall we were satisfied.

We enjoyed delicious meals in the Room, and we were happy to be able to take our time and enjoy them. However, the toilet lock malfunctioned repeatedly, and it was also difficult to understand how to use the in-room safe. We were worried about the outdoor pool in the extreme heat, but the sea breeze kept it cool and our grandchildren enjoyed it. Snow crab was served at dinner, which surprised everyone since it was summer. They also grilled steak for us, and it was delicious. The watermelon was sweet, and there were also chocolate fondue and ice cream. The breakfast buffet was wonderful too, especially while enjoying the ocean view. We would love to stay again.
