Ten traditional townhouses scattered throughout the area have been renovated into nine buildings with 16 guest rooms and a restaurant. The name “Homachi” comes from “homachi” (waiting for favorable winds), a term that also evokes the “reward” enjoyed in the era of Kitamaebune ships. The architecture features local kagura-style construction and preserves Edo-period pillars, beams, and Shakudani stone.
