I stayed in a newly renovated Room, and it was wonderful. The in-room perks were excellent. In particular, the all-you-can-eat gelato was an incredibly generous service—perfect after the Onsen—and I enjoyed trying many different flavors. Everything was delicious. The pre-dinner aperitif can be chosen from the menu, and the lounge coffee machine is truly high-quality, so I used it many times. Both the quality and quantity of the meals were very satisfying, and what impressed me most was the staff. There were many young team members, but everyone’s hospitality was outstanding. Some staff members spent a long time chatting with elderly guests because they were approached for conversation, yet they responded without showing any displeasure at all—I was genuinely impressed. You can also enjoy two different types of Onsen water, and I think this Accommodation offers excellent value for money. I will definitely return again. I visited Shibu Onsen during the quieter period just after the Obon holidays. It was a very clean Onsen Ryokan, with the Room, amenities, and baths all well maintained. The level of service was just right, and I had a comfortable stay. As for the meals, I thought the adult dishes were good, but I wish there had been more creativity in the children’s meals. They consisted of fried foods such as sausages, frozen chicken, and French fries, and my child hardly ate any of it.

We had our meals at a charming traditional house restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was delicious, right up to the final sushi! This was my third stay, and as always I was very satisfied with the meals, the baths, and the hospitality. The dinner in particular felt like a course meal, which made it enjoyable to savor at a relaxed pace. Being able to enjoy a variety of wines and sake with the coin system was also a real treat for anyone who loves alcohol. They also provided guidance on recommended spots for firefly viewing, and I was able to see countless fireflies dancing in the night. The mornings and evenings were cool, so the duvet came in handy. I’m not good with the cold, so I was a bit worried about how warm the Room would be, but there was a heater and a kotatsu, and they even provided a hot water bottle for sleeping, so I stayed very comfortably. This is my favorite Accommodation in Nagano! The meals are a delightful blend of Japanese and Western cuisine, thoughtfully crafted in every detail, and they impress me no matter how many times I visit. The morning miso soup is especially outstanding. It’s made with nemagari bamboo shoots that the owner’s son went to gather, and it makes me feel happy from the very start of the day. And the Onsen is wonderful as well. Perhaps because many guests love bathing, they don’t dilute the water much, so you can enjoy it just as it is—nice and hot—which I really appreciate. Onsen lovers will be thrilled. Above all, what makes this Accommodation special is the proprietress. She feels like everyone’s mom—always cheerful, and when you need help she listens kindly and supports you wholeheartedly. She shares not only what to enjoy inside the Accommodation but also what makes the town special, so every visit brings new discoveries. It’s an Accommodation that truly makes you want to come back. I feel that when a place pursues hospitality at a high level, this is what it becomes. It’s an important Accommodation I want to keep coming back to again and again.
