As an annex of the historic "Shinshu Yudanaka Onsen Yorozuya," which has been welcoming guests since the Edo Kansei era, this new accommodation will be reborn on March 1, 2024. The previous Matsusho-so was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2003 and cherished by many until it was lost to fire in 2021. Despite this loss, with encouragement from numerous supporters, we are proud to announce its revival as the new "Matsusho-so" on March 1, 2024. The building incorporates design elements of the original Matsusho-so while embracing traditional Sukiya architecture that harmonizes with nature. Each room features a private open-air bath overlooking a small garden where guests can enjoy seasonal landscapes. We have created a space that feels "new yet somehow nostalgic." Shibu Onsen is a charming hot-spring town known for its atmospheric streets and nine public bathhouses to visit.At “Sakaeya,” you can enjoy gentle, free-flowing Onsen water blended from two different hot springs.Another highlight is the creative Japanese kaiseki cuisine that goes beyond the ordinary.

Located on a hilltop, our guest rooms on the upper floors and the open-air baths on the top floor offer breathtaking views of the majestic mountain ranges of Northern Shinshu. In addition to the snow season, the green season with its vibrant greenery offers activities such as trekking and mountain biking in Madarao Kogen. There are three types of rooms: Japanese-Western, Western, and Japanese, all non-smoking. We provide flavorful dishes prepared with local seasonal ingredients.

In the winter season, the Property is located just a 0-minute walk from the slopes! While access to the Property is via a snowcat, you can immediately enjoy skiing and snowboarding. Additionally, the Property's own gymnasium and grounds are available for training camps and tournaments.
