A new encounter, a single story. Kanbayashi Hotel Senjukaku. The story began with an encounter. It was in 1929 (Showa 4) when the first president of Nagano Electric Railway, Tohei Kozu, met Lieutenant Helseth from Norway. This meeting in Kanbayashi brought together European and Japanese cultures, creating an entirely new culture or space. It was a groundbreaking event where the culture of a Western-style Hotel was incorporated into a traditional Japanese-style Ryokan for the first time. Furthermore, this encounter became the prologue to the development of Kanbayashi Onsen and Shiga Kogen, now renowned as one of Japan's leading international resorts.
The entire lobby floor was fully renovated on August 1, 2018!Aburaya Tosen is a hot spring inn where you can soothe your body in the warmth of the baths, enjoy heartfelt hospitality, and relax through the many seasons reflected in flowing water that mirrors the mountains of Shinshu—lighting a gentle flame in your heart and warming all five senses. Aburaya Tosen is a place to slow down and stay awhile at ease.
