Inspired by honeycomb forms, it features large windows that frame the surrounding landscape. The space comes alive through seasonal views reflected in those windows and wildflowers arranged in the dining room vase.In the morning, quietly grind coffee beans on the terrace as sunlight filters through the trees. In the afternoon, play a seasonal music playlist and let yourself sink into sound. In the evening, toast with natural wine while listening to insects sing.At night, add logs to the fire and lose yourself in thought. How you spend your time is entirely up to you.We hope you’ll find a way of staying that feels just right for you.

The former Aburaya, which served as a secondary inn in Oiwake-juku on the Nakasendo in Karuizawa, was relocated to its current location in 1938. This Ryokan has been the setting for many literary works, as it was favored by writers and intellectuals such as Tatsuo Hori, Michizo Tachihara, and Shuichi Kato for their writing retreats. In 2012, the building of the former Aburaya Ryokan was restored and reborn as "Aburaya," a place dedicated to "Books and Art Projects." The second floor of the main building now serves as a Property with No Meals Included. Additionally, the Facility offers electric-assist bicycles exclusively for guests (available for an additional fee). You can explore areas such as Old Karuizawa and Naka-Karuizawa, making it an ideal base for your stay. Why not enjoy a relaxing stay while immersing yourself in literature and art, and fully experience all that Karuizawa has to offer?
