Established in 1878 as Japan's first full-scale Resort Hotel in Miyanoshita, Hakone, Fujiya Hotel began with a single Western-style building constructed by its founder, Sennosuke Yamaguchi. Over time, through numerous expansions and renovations, it has become a grand architectural symbol of Hakone. Having overcome many challenges, including natural disasters, much of the building was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 1997. After more than two years of extensive renovations, the "new" Fujiya Hotel reopened in 2020. While preserving its timeless charm and design along with its spirit of hospitality, we continue to create new history as a pioneer among classic hotels to provide an even more comfortable and relaxing experience for our guests.

Yumoto Fujiya Hotel is located at the gateway to the Yumoto Onsen area, one of the Hakone Seven Hot Springs, cherished since the Edo period. Hakone Miyanoshita is defined by the changing seasons. In this distinctive landscape lies a quiet, untouched valley hidden away from view—about 100 meters from the national road. All nine guest rooms feature a private pool and Onsen, with each villa’s furnishings and décor curated individually by selected artists. The Onsen uses water drawn directly from the Dogashima Onsen source of Hakone’s historic “Hakone Seven Hot Springs,” with temperature adjusted via heat exchange without adding water. Both open-air and indoor baths are provided, offering views of Hakone’s clear streams and forests so you can feel close to nature. Choose your preferred designs for items such as room keys, yukata robes, and even chopsticks during meals to customize your stay.
