A Ryokan designed by Tatsuno Kingo, the architect of Tokyo Station, registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property.

The main building of Nanten-en was originally located in Sakai Ohama as "Shioyu Kazokuyu" and was relocated in its entirety to Amami, a place known for its natural Onsen, in 1935. It was then transformed into an Onsen Ryokan for pilgrims visiting Mount Koya. The predecessor, "Shioyu Kazokuyu," was designed by Kingo Tatsuno, a renowned architect of the Meiji and Taisho eras who contributed to many iconic modern architectural works. As one of the few remaining examples of traditional Japanese architecture, it continues to convey its historical significance. The former Koya Highway runs north to south, and the 3,000-tsubo Japanese garden, surrounded by the rich natural backdrop of the Kongō-Katsuragi mountain range, offers a picturesque setting. The garden, adorned with flowers blooming throughout the year and the chirping of wild birds echoing through the mountains, retains the timeless charm of a serene paradise.
