Shin Hosono Station × Highly rated for dining at Hotel·Ryokan

I have stayed here many times. Although it is an older Accommodation, the Room and baths are always kept very clean, which makes for a very pleasant stay. The staff are attentive and considerate while maintaining a comfortable sense of distance—truly a wonderful Accommodation. The early-summer dishes this time were also delicious. They looked refreshing and beautifully presented. I would love to visit again in winter. Thank you very much.

It was my first time visiting Nara. I was very satisfied with my first stay at Kaze no Naramachi. The hospitality was wonderful in every aspect—from the service and the Room to the meals and thoughtful care. The weather was bad, so sightseeing did not go as planned, but I would like to stay again and fully enjoy what Nara has to offer. Thank you as well for the delicious sake.

All staff were exceptionally kind and provided warm, heartfelt service. The French dinner was outstanding, from the presentation to every dish, and breakfast began with freshly baked croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice—both the Japanese set meal and the Western set meal were thoroughly satisfying. Conveniently located, this is a quiet, hidden-gem Hotel.

The location is close to Sarusawa Pond, making it convenient for sightseeing. Naramachi is also nearby, so you can enjoy dining and shopping as well. The Hotel itself is not new, but it has everything you need, and the Room size feels just right. The staff were kind and courteous, and they also helped with recommendations for places to eat. I chose the plan with breakfast included. It was buffet-style, and everything was carefully prepared—delicious and enjoyable. I looked forward to breakfast every morning. I arrived by rental car, but there is no dedicated Hotel parking lot. You can park at a flat rate in the adjacent (Mitsui) coin parking lot, but if it’s full you’ll need to find another option yourself. I spent the mornings exploring within walking distance and drove farther out in the afternoon, then returned in the evening to park again. At that time of day, it seemed like day-trippers were leaving, so it worked out well for me. This is a Hotel I’d like to stay at again when I visit Nara.

Before dinner, the second-floor gallery overlooking Mt. Wakakusa becomes a waiting bar, where you can relax while watching the deer heading home. Once guided to the first-floor restaurant, you are welcomed by the hearth and served—standing—local cucumber gazpacho, Yamato Nikudori chicken (a firm-textured gamefowl-type breed?) pinchos, and freshly made mozzarella kneaded right in front of you. After being gently drawn in at an unhurried pace, you are shown to your table. The course goes without saying: each dish showcases carefully selected ingredients with meticulous technique, paired with clear and thoughtful explanations. And finally, even the coffee comes as a surprise. The staff are friendly as well, with a comfortable sense of distance.

I stayed at this Accommodation at the end of May. It’s close to the station, and it was a huge help that they could store my luggage before check-in and after check-out. Also, this is a Ryokan-style property where you take off your shoes when entering, but I really liked the system that lets you either bring your shoes to your Room or leave them in a locker (I really dislike places that take your shoes away at the entrance, and I usually avoid staying at Ryokan for that reason). The only thing I noticed was that there was no hand soap in the sink area of the Room (and none in the shower booth either). Since it was listed among the in-room amenities in the introduction video, I assume it was simply forgotten. Other than that, my stay was very comfortable—thank you very much.

I came to Nara for the first time with my mother because we wanted to see Nara Park and the deer. We chose this Ryokan because it is close to Nara Park and has an in-room Onsen. I love traveling both in Japan and abroad, and when traveling domestically, I enjoy staying at Onsen Ryokan and wonderful Hotels. I have visited many places, but Fufu Nara was truly outstanding. Sightseeing was fun as well—we explored more than just the deer—and I would definitely like to visit Nara again, and return to Fufu Nara too. The staff’s hospitality was excellent; everyone was incredibly kind. The room and the Onsen were very clean and perfect. All of the food was delicious. We will be back.

Because we enjoyed our previous stay so much, we came back again. It was convenient to leave our luggage at the information center in front of Kintetsu Nara Station. The Room had an even better view than last time, and my mother was delighted. We were able to relax in a private dining room for both dinner and breakfast. The meals were delicious as well. It had been a while since we last gathered—this time, all our children and grandchildren came together to celebrate my wife’s and my birthdays. We chose a long-established Ryokan located at the gateway to beautiful Nara Park, just a 2-minute walk from Kintetsu-Nara Station—an ideal meeting point for our family coming from both the Kanto and Kansai regions. The Shosoin-inspired building we had often admired on the way to Nara Park turned out to be Kasuga Hotel. It was our first stay, and it proved to be a wonderful Accommodation that stands at the entrance to historic Nara Park. Here are a few memorable moments from our visit. With its major restoration now underway—the first in about 120 years since FY2022—Kofuku-ji Temple’s National Treasure Five-Story Pagoda will be something we look forward to enjoying again from our Room once the work is completed.

Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. It was a trip with my daughter, planned so we could fully enjoy the newly renovated Nara Hotel, since sightseeing during the hot summer season can be challenging. We were relieved to find that the classic, dignified interior remains unchanged. At the same time, the bathtub and other features in our Room were up to date, making our stay very comfortable. We also enjoyed afternoon tea at Mikasa and breakfast at a relaxed pace, forgetting about the heat outside. Next time, I would like to invite my husband as well and plan another trip simply to unwind. Thank you to all of your staff.

Arriving drenched in sweat, I was able to take a breather right away in the lounge with the complimentary shaved ice service. It felt like the best kind of hospitality. The Room felt smaller than I expected, but everything was pleasantly well kept and I had a comfortable stay. Joining the morning walk was also worthwhile—I learned things for the first time thanks to the guide’s explanations, making it a meaningful experience. All of the staff were friendly and courteous. With Kofuku-ji Temple, Nara Park, and the station all nearby, it’s an ideal location for sightseeing, so I’d definitely like to stay here again when I visit Nara.

It was a hot stay in Nara, but the property is close to Nara Station, with convenience stores and shopping facilities nearby, so we didn’t have to walk around much in the heat. The Room was clean, and it was great that the toilet and bathroom were separate. It was also helpful that we could store our luggage after check-out. We would like to stay again. This was my first stay. The Room was comfortable, and the food was delicious. There was a stargazing and night view watching program, and I joined it. Unfortunately, it was cloudy so we could hardly see any stars, but we were able to enjoy the night view of Nara. If I have the opportunity, I would like to stay again.

A Hotel I’ve stayed at many times. The rates are affordable, and the service exceeds expectations. I’ll definitely be back again. Thank you always.

I had a comfortable stay from check-in to check-out. The Room (single room) was clean. I was also able to relax in the shared cafe area. Everyone working at the Hotel was kind and courteous, so I felt at ease throughout my stay. On my way out, I met one of the housekeeping staff members, who saw me off with a smile—another happy memory added. I would be glad to stay again in the future.

My spouse and I stayed from Sunday to Monday. The front desk staff were pleasant, and while the baths are not brand-new, we were very satisfied with the sauna and walking pool. I also joined a löyly event in the sauna for the first time. We chose the dinner buffet, which offered a good variety of dishes, all tasty, and my wife especially enjoyed the desserts. The parking fee was reasonable, and on Monday we were able to leave our car parked while we took a walk around the nearby Heijō Palace Site. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

Although it was very hot during our stay, we received a cooling bath additive at the front desk and were able to relax comfortably in the bath. You always come up with thoughtful touches, which makes staying here something we look forward to. The Room isn’t large, but it has a calm color scheme and is functional.

Conveniently located about a 3-minute walk from the station, I stayed for one night at a very reasonable price. I was able to use the parking lot, and there were also nearby parking options if you arrived early (they were full by evening). This time I wanted to eat at the nearby Matsuya (since there isn’t one near where I live), so I didn’t use the breakfast service. Overall, everything was clean, it wasn’t noisy, and I had a comfortable stay. However, the only disappointing point was that the entrance vestibule didn’t seem to be well cleaned. Since the entrance is the face of the Hotel, it’s a shame when cleaning isn’t thorough there.

This was my first time staying here. Because it is near an intersection, it was difficult to enter the Hotel parking lot. The facilities were comfortable. I thought the shaved ice ticket included in the Plan would be just a small sample, but it exceeded my expectations and was a great value.

The greenery from the Room was beautiful. On the way to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, seeing the river and small waterfalls was refreshing. The meals were just the right portion, and we enjoyed them along with the tableware. The bath temperature was perfect, and the scent of wood was soothing. Thanks to the thoughtful staff, we had a wonderful stay. We think it would be even more lovely during the autumn foliage season. Thank you very much.
