Maruto Soy Sauce, Nara Prefecture’s oldest soy sauce brewery, has been reborn as a stayable soy sauce brewery.Founded in 1689, Maruto Soy Sauce was once purveyor to the Imperial Household—so esteemed that members of the Imperial Family even stayed here. After the war, however, the brewery was forced to close when it could no longer secure satisfactory ingredients. Now, using the microorganisms that remained in the kura since its closure, locally sourced ingredients, and brewing methods reconstructed from historical documents, the fires have been lit again for the first time in 70 years—reviving Maruto as a stayable soy sauce brewery.From traveler to brewer.Experience firsthand our revival of soy sauce making, local resources, and the timeless landscapes of Yamato—all in one place.

Known as the Mahoroba of the nation, Nara, the land of Yamato. Among them, in the northwest of Asuka Village, which retains a strong breath of ancient times, near Ikazuchi Hill mentioned in the Manyoshu, stands a small Property limited to one group per day, that is Asuka Yuri no Sato Shinrajuku.

This Property, located along the approach to Asuka Niimasu Shrine within the historic site of "Asuka-dera Ruins," is a renovated accommodation featuring the structure of a "rectangular four-room local-style townhouse" built in the third year of the Meiji era (over 150 years ago). The exterior and layout have been preserved as much as possible. While incorporating original fittings and antique materials from the time, the Property is equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning systems, to ensure a comfortable stay. It offers two spacious Rooms, each with a unique atmosphere, featuring a courtyard and a large Shigaraki ware bathtub. The Rooms are also stocked with a collection of rare "out-of-print historical books" and "photography and art books." During your stay, we encourage you to take a closer look at the building and books, and enjoy a hands-on, engaging experience.

We offer Kaiseki cuisine utilizing seasonal ingredients and provide relaxation with our private Onsen. Hasedera Temple is a beautiful place throughout the year with peonies, hydrangeas, autumn leaves, winter peonies, and cherry blossoms. We especially recommend participating in the "Morning Service" at Hasedera Temple for a spiritual experience. The surrounding area has many attractions such as Muroji Temple, Asuka Village, Yamanobe Road, and Omiwa Shrine, making it a convenient base for sightseeing.
