A charming Ryokan in the Naramachi district, carrying on 80 years of history. About a 5-minute walk to the entrance of Nara Park, and within walking distance of Kofuku-ji Temple and the World Heritage Site Gango-ji Temple—an ideal base for exploring the ancient capital of Nara at a relaxed pace. Our 15 rooms in 6 types are Japanese-Western style rooms that combine the calm of tatami with the comfort of beds. Each room is uniquely designed around a theme from different eras of Japan, offering its own distinct character. All rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet for a comfortable stay. On the first floor, our bath area features one of Japan’s few cold mineral springs using “Reisen Kanketsusen” water from Yoshino, Nara, as well as an herbal medicinal bath prepared with carefully selected botanicals. Both are available free of charge as private-use baths for one group at a time—perfect for soothing your fatigue after a day exploring Nara on foot.

A truly special suite with only two rooms, located on the 3rd floor of the Arist Building, about a 4-minute walk from JR Nara Station. Both suites offer a spacious 63 m² layout and feature an open-air hinoki cypress bath on the terrace. Enjoy a soak at any time, morning or night, while gazing out at a small courtyard garden with bamboo fencing, stone lanterns, and fresh green maple leaves. Nara Ryokan’s original herbal bath “Keigen-yu” gently envelops you in the soothing aroma of traditional botanicals, easing away travel fatigue. Inside, you’ll find two beds with Japanese-made mattresses, a double-sink vanity, and separate shower and toilet facilities. Drinks and snacks in the refrigerator are also complimentary. On the ground floor is “Shungyo,” a Chinese restaurant featured in the Michelin Guide Nara.

Located in the heart of Nara tourism (in the Higashimuki Shopping Street in front of Kintetsu Nara Station), our location allows you to explore Nara Park, Kofuku-ji Temple, and Todai-ji Temple's Great Buddha Hall on foot. The shopping street is home to numerous restaurants and local souvenir shops, so you can enjoy strolling around beyond the World Heritage sites. We offer luggage storage before check-in, so you can enjoy sightseeing in Nara hands-free.
