On the premises, there are a total of nine types of baths, including seven private baths and separate large public baths for men and women. The private baths feature unique designs such as a dynamic open-air bath by the mountain stream, a barrel bath made from sake barrels, a cave bath with a waterfall shower, and baths made of cypress and stone, all utilizing high-quality natural hot spring water that can also be consumed. Dinner can be served in your Room. We offer a kaiseki meal featuring seasonal ingredients and premium Japanese beef. Additionally, the area around the private baths on the premises is illuminated with bamboo lanterns and traditional Japanese umbrellas. Our establishment features a main building that has been passed down for 170 years, originally relocated from a village headman's residence from the late Edo period. This historic and well-preserved traditional Japanese house showcases the authentic craftsmanship and charm created by skilled carpenters of the time. Additionally, we offer four private Onsen baths on the premises, which can be used at any time during your stay, depending on availability. For dining, we serve Kyoto-style Kaiseki cuisine, carefully crafted by our dedicated chefs using seasonal, rustic ingredients. Tenryuso, with its long history, has been renewed as "Ryokan Tenryu" in the summer of 2023. It has been reborn as a gentle Property focusing on comfort in sleeping, bathing, and staying. While preserving the warmth of the historic building, all Rooms are river-view and equipped with beds, featuring body-friendly soft flooring. Amagase Onsen, one of the three major hot springs in Bungo, is popular as a skin-friendly beauty Onsen. For dinner, we prepare a colorful Japanese kaiseki meal that highlights the seasons, using mainly local Oita ingredients. Enjoy the high-quality Onsen of Amagase, dishes made with local ingredients, and a space where you can relax to the soothing sound of the river.
Yamakawa ZENZO is a hidden retreat for adults where you can enjoy natural Onsen with water directly sourced from Yamakawa Onsen and traditional irori-style cuisine. Each guest room features a private open-air bath, allowing you to relax while taking in the surrounding nature. Additionally, we offer irori-grilled dishes prepared over charcoal right in front of you, paired with carefully selected beverages. The large communal bath is designed with landscaping that evokes the presence of massive rocks and mountains, creating a rustic and wild atmosphere.
