La toile is a standalone house nestled in the satoyama, built in the 1950s when Japan was entering its period of rapid economic growth. The challenge was how to incorporate the passage of "50 years" while preserving the natural textures of the materials that make up the building. The answer, reached after much effort, was inspired by the "Schindler House," a masterpiece by Rudolph Schindler, a pioneer of American Modernism. It resembles a Japanese house manifested in America, yet it was built with a design philosophy distinct from traditional Japanese architecture—a fusion of modernism and Japanese culture. An homage to the 1950s and a blend of Japanese architecture and modernism. As a hidden retreat in the Shimosa district of Takase Town, far removed from typical tourist destinations, La toile awaits your visit.

10 minutes by car from Ikawa Ikeda IC on the Tokushima Expressway. Conveniently located for sightseeing in Shikoku. The panoramic bath overlooking the clear Yoshino River is popular, and day-use bathing is also available. Next to the entrance, there is a literary monument of the writer Fumiko Hayashi, who stayed here before the war, with photos and autographs displayed inside the Property. Recommended nearby sightseeing includes the "Kurozo Marsh," known as the "Oze of the West," about 30 minutes by car from the Property. This rare wetland plant community is designated as a natural monument of the prefecture due to its large scale and diverse plant species. Particularly famous is the "Sagiso," a flower resembling a white egret spreading its wings, which grows naturally here. During the summer blooming season, many enthusiasts visit. Other nearby attractions include Oboke, Iya Valley, rafting, and athletic activities. The Property is also popular among pilgrims as accommodation for the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
