Stay in a traditional Japanese house on Suo-Oshima Island in the Setouchi region An Accommodation where the history and present of this citrus island come together

In the Edo period, Hikoemon Fujii introduced citrus cultivation to Suo-Oshima. We turned the former grounds of his residence into a lemon grove and renovated three traditional Japanese houses into private, whole-house rental Accommodation. Rather than demolishing them because they had aged, we have restored them as Accommodation to carry the region’s history and culture into the future. The Main House, Annex Saezuri, and Detached House WithDogs—these three traditional homes have been reborn as an Accommodation where the island’s “past” and “present” come together, preserving Hikoemon Fujii’s legacy for generations to come. Surrounded by historic homes that still retain their original charm and a citrus grove on the former estate grounds, please relax and enjoy unhurried island time while reflecting on the lives of those who came before.

A harmonious blend of restored traditional charm and modern comfort – A private retreat on a Seto Inland Sea island

Suo-Oshima, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Quietly nestled in a Setouchi townscape, WAKUSUI is an Accommodation limited to one group per day. Beyond the wooden gate lies a cozy traditional home where families with children can relax and take their time. This 150+ year-old kominka has been carefully restored—authentic materials and a historic setting nurture children’s senses, while adults find nostalgia and gentle healing that slowly eases the mind. Preserving the original beams and posts, we thoughtfully designed the space with naguri-finished flooring and kumiko woodwork, filled with “the beauty of Japan we want our children to experience.” As an entire-house rental for up to 10 guests—with a kids’ Room and even a hidden Room—you can enjoy your stay without worrying about anyone else, like an old-fashioned extended family with grandparents, parents, and children together. A kominka is a warm place where people gather and connect. We welcome you naturally—just like home.
