This was a wonderful inn, just as the reviews said. Although the facilities are old, everything felt clean throughout, and it was very comfortable. The baths in particular were so good that they alone made me want to come back. The view of the Hakuba mountain range from the open-air bath was so soothing that I could have stayed there forever. Soaking in the indoor bath fed by natural hot spring water eased my fatigue, and I slept soundly through the night without waking even once. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style with Japanese, Western, and Chinese options; not only did they cook beef steak and white shrimp tempura right in front of you, but there were also many dishes thoughtfully prepared using healthy local ingredients, which I really appreciated. I was also impressed by how quick-thinking and pleasant all of the hotel staff were. It’s a hotel I definitely want to visit again.

The view from the room was amazing—we could see the ski jump. Rain was forecast from that day, but we enjoyed a brief spell of sunshine, which felt wonderfully refreshing. Both the hot spring and the open-air bath were available, and they were truly soothing. The meals were a dream for vegetarians—exactly what we could have hoped for. It was a very relaxing one-night stay, and the room was clean. However, there is a step up to reach the toilet, which was a bit disappointing; at night it could be easy for older guests to trip when stepping up. Other than that, it was a hotel we were completely satisfied with.

The lobster was incredibly delicious—I was genuinely surprised. I treated myself a bit by staying here, and many guests seemed to be regulars; the overall atmosphere was wonderful. I also appreciated being able to request Shuttle Service from/to Hakuba Station. This may have been just me missing it, but I would have appreciated it even more if makeup remover had been available in the Room or in the private bath.

In conclusion, this Accommodation offered outstanding value for money! I had made separate one-night Reservations for different Rooms, but when availability opened up, I was able to stay in the same Room for two nights. I chose the Deluxe Japanese-style Room, and upgrading was definitely the right decision. The first thing I did after arriving was head straight to the Onsen. The water quality was incredible—silky and pleasantly smooth—and it genuinely felt like it left my skin refreshed. The washing area is spacious, and the indoor bath is more than large enough. The open-air bath is a bit smaller, but the water was so clean and soothing that it didn’t matter at all. I would happily come back just for this Onsen. The meals were also excellent. Although it’s a buffet, it wasn’t the typical “hotel buffet” with mass-produced dishes. Instead, each item felt carefully prepared. There aren’t countless options, but both the taste and quality were more than satisfying. I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights, and the initial plated dish (separate from the buffet) featured different ingredients on each day—both were delicious. Some buffet items also changed on day two, so I never felt bored even with dinner twice in a row. The wood-fired pizza was especially good—I ended up eating too much on both days. Honestly, if you ate this dinner every day you’d definitely gain weight (in a good way). It was nothing like an ordinary hotel buffet that simply reheats frozen food. Breakfast was just as good. The view from the Room was amazing as well, which made me even happier that I chose the Deluxe Japanese-style Room. By luck I was on the top floor (5th floor), with a full view of Happo-One Ski Resort—including the ski jump—so it felt fantastic. I honestly think this Accommodation has one of the best vantage points in the area in terms of seeing over the entire resort and how close it feels to the mountains. Switching to two nights in this Deluxe Japanese-style Room was absolutely worth it. If you’re unsure which side to choose, I highly recommend a ski-resort-facing Room. The Accommodation itself may be somewhat older, but there wasn’t a single place where it felt old (or dirty). If anything, it feels very clean throughout. Even my window had been thoroughly cleaned, so I could enjoy their proud ski-resort view through spotless glass. All staff members were kind and welcoming with genuine smiles, which made my stay even better. I would absolutely like to stay here again.

We stayed as a couple. I’d been interested after seeing it on the website and social media, and after actually staying here, the meal at LA VIGNE DINING FÛDO was especially memorable. We were able to take our time and truly enjoy dining at the hotel, making for a very satisfying experience. The design of the guest room and shared spaces, as well as the interior decor, was wonderful, and even the scent throughout the property and in the bath amenities was soothing. The room was bright and had a kitchen too, which made it feel more like staying in a private villa than a hotel. It was such a lovely stay that we’d definitely like to return. Highly recommended.

While Marriott Hotels are often associated with polished service, perhaps because this is not a large-scale Hotel, the hospitality here was friendly and warm, and every staff member we interacted with had a wonderful smile. I’m sorry for the trouble we caused when my son’s Switch wouldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi. They even contacted a service provider to get it connected, and my son was truly grateful. The Room also felt very Hakuba—woody and simple, but exactly my taste. The ReFa shower head in the bath and the amenities were excellent as well. The meals were also incredibly elaborate and detailed; I was especially moved by the appetizer inspired by Hakuba’s scenery. I often can’t finish a full course meal, but this time I was able to enjoy every last bite. In winter, it seems we’ll be able to see a completely different landscape in many ways, so this is an Accommodation I’d love to revisit during ski season.

We stayed here for my girlfriend’s birthday. Thank you for the special service! The room was exceptionally clean and beautiful, and we had a truly wonderful day. We would definitely love to stay again if we have the chance!!

More and more Accommodations that welcome dogs have been appearing in recent years, and I stay at various private rental homes around Japan a few times a year. Among them, JADE GROUP’s Accommodation is outstanding in every way (this was my third stay including other JADE properties). The stylish exterior, interior design, and furnishings; the more-than-generous space and openness; and the spacious bathroom were all clean and made for a very comfortable bath time. I loved the overall simple yet luxurious atmosphere. The kitchen appliances were fully equipped, and having a Dyson vacuum cleaner plus a washer-dryer permanently installed was extremely helpful for someone like me who is a bit particular about cleanliness. With such excellent Facilities, I did wish there were at least basic amenities provided as well. From the large living-room windows, you can enjoy views of mountains and rural scenery. In this quiet setting with complete privacy from others, we were able to relax at our own pace—and it still didn’t feel like enough time—so if possible, I recommend a Multiple Night Stay.

I have stayed at luxury hotels and villas around the world, and this was definitely among the top-tier experiences. Simply outstanding.

We stayed as a group of three families (6 adults and 4 children). The accommodation was clean both inside and out, allowing us to have a wonderful time. The thoughtful touches such as insect repellent, mosquito coils, and pet sheets were much appreciated. We also made several inquiries by phone before and during our stay (e.g., about towel replacements), and the staff responded promptly and courteously, which was very helpful. If possible, we would love to stay again next year. If I may suggest some improvements: - A minor point, but while there was a rice cooker and measuring cup for rice, there was no rice paddle. It would be great if one could be provided (or at least noted in advance if unavailable). Additionally, having cooking utensils like long chopsticks for stir-frying would be even better. - The refrigerator took some time to cool down; it would help if it could be turned on before check-in if possible (the air conditioning was already on and very comfortable). - A guide or instructions for using the kitchen appliances would be helpful (especially for overseas-made IH stoves, microwaves, dishwashers). - Including a floor plan of the building might make it easier to visualize the space. Even with these points in mind, we had an extremely satisfying stay. Thank you very much!

This was our first trip to Hakuba with my daughter, and we were very satisfied with this accommodation. With only four rooms, each uniquely designed, we chose the "Condo" room this time. The room featured beautiful interior design, offering a luxurious and private experience. My daughter was delighted as well. For us, the enjoyment of a trip heavily depends on the accommodation's room and meals, and Kunugi exceeded all expectations with its hospitality and cleanliness. One of the highlights was the bath facilities—three options including indoor baths and an outdoor Asian-style bath that required a reservation. The outdoor bath had a tropical resort vibe where we could relax while enjoying views of the garden. It was so pleasant that I ended up using it twice—once in the evening and again in the morning. Dinner consisted of a full-course menu featuring fish and meat dishes that were casual yet delicious. The French toast served at breakfast was also excellent, which made my daughter very happy once again. Having stayed at many hotels or ryokans before, I believe accommodations like Kunugi—with its originality and exceptional hospitality—are rare to find. While winter is likely their peak season due to increased demand, visiting during off-season periods like now through autumn offers more reasonable rates. Summer in Hakuba feels like experiencing Japan’s traditional landscapes—a truly unique region worth visiting. We will definitely return for another stay! The owner was incredibly kind—a wonderful host—and even provided shuttle service for us. Thank you so much for making this summer trip such an unforgettable experience!

We stayed for one night over the Obon holidays as a family, and everything was excellent. The Facility matched the photos, was very clean, and we had a truly comfortable stay. When we arrived, the tarp and BBQ set were already prepared, so we could start enjoying a barbecue right away—wonderful. There was also a Miele front-opening dishwasher, which made it very convenient for a large group to wash and dry dishes automatically. What we especially liked was that the LDK is on the first floor, and there is also one bedroom on the first floor. Even among luxury villas I researched extensively, it’s rare to find this layout plus a sauna, so I think it’s quite valuable. It also seems very easy to use when traveling with elderly guests or anyone with limited mobility, since it reduces the need to go up and down stairs. The wood deck is designed to be hard to see from the road, and it isn’t fully exposed from neighboring homes either—privacy was well considered. You can see an apartment-like building a few hundred meters away, so you probably wouldn’t want to sunbathe completely nude outside (haha), but it still feels nicely private. The sauna goes up to 90°C maximum, so those who prefer an authentic high-temperature sauna might find it slightly lacking. However, relaxing outdoors after the cold bath on an infinity chair or in a hammock was truly amazing. We had originally extended late check-out by two hours, and when we asked for an additional two-hour extension, they kindly responded quickly since there were no upcoming Reservations. The staff service was excellent as well. We were satisfied with everything—the Facility, layout, comfort level, privacy considerations, and staff support. It made for a wonderful family trip. I stayed for 3 nights for skiing in Hakuba. The snow quality was terrible all 4 days, but I was very satisfied with the property overall. The ski locker in the drying room is spacious, easily accommodating boards and boots for 4 people, and it has a lock. The room is well soundproofed. There is a large public bath and an open-air bath. And above all, the food was extremely delicious. At first glance, I thought there might be a limited number of dishes, but the quantity was more than satisfying, and the seasoning was excellent. I will use it again if I have the opportunity.

All rooms are equipped with floor heating and individual air conditioners for maximum comfort. Each room has a private toilet and shower (the second-floor room includes a bathtub), ensuring privacy. The living room features high ceilings with an incredible sense of openness; however, while large windows offer great views, there are no blinds in the living area—this may be uncomfortable for some guests despite minimal surroundings. The semi-open-air bath on the first floor is spacious enough to accommodate 3–4 adult men at once comfortably but lacks a changing area (possibly designed for direct use after skiing using the laundry space near the entrance). Note that it’s visible from outside through its windows—likely from neighboring villas—so additional privacy measures would be appreciated. The kitchen is well-equipped with dishes and cooking utensils (though no measuring cup was available). Guests need to bring their own seasonings but will find it highly functional overall. Used dishes can simply be placed into the dishwasher. A baby crib can be borrowed free of charge if requested in advance (floor-sleeping type). Additionally, all rooms feature twin beds; however, according to staff members, they can rearrange them into a double bed layout upon request. 【Check-out】 Guests are told they may leave freely without any formalities at checkout time; however, confirming this process during your stay might provide peace of mind. 【Overall Experience】 The living room sofa was very comfortable to sit on, and we enjoyed watching TV on its large screen—it was an incredibly relaxing stay overall! We look forward to staying here again!
