An auberge where you can savor satoyama cuisine while surrounded by magnificent nature.

Kamosu Mori is an auberge nestled in one of the heaviest snowfall areas of Matsunoyama. A forest spreads out before you, where you can enjoy satoyama cuisine surrounded by magnificent nature. Next door, the craft sake brewery “Yuki to Satoyama Jozojo” has also opened. New encounters between food and sake await. For dinner, the main course is a shabu-shabu tasting featuring Niigata’s prized brand wagyu “Agano Himegyu” and Tokamachi’s local specialty pork “Tsumaari Pork.” Savor Agano Himegyu for its smooth texture and rich lean-meat flavor, and Tsumaari Pork for its tenderness and deep umami—lightly swished in hot broth with seasonal local vegetables.Alongside satoyama dishes centered on local ingredients, we offer an all-inclusive selection of alcoholic beverages including draft beer, highballs, sours, around 20 varieties of local sake, local wines, and more.Enjoy a luxurious moment as you take your time pairing Matsunoyama’s blessings with fine drinks.

Blessings from the mountains flow in a continuous cycle. A place where fire and stillness are born.

A century-old building reborn as the boutique Hotel “mont,” standing in the heart of Nozawa Onsen, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and beech forests. Mountain blessings become snow, then water that nourishes the land, and eventually spring forth as Onsen. Forest trees, too, become the festival tower that lights the winter Dosojin Fire Festival, carrying local memories into the future. Inspired by these two opposing yet life-giving energies—“fire” and “water”—we have shaped our spaces, cuisine, and drinks. At our wood-fire restaurant, seasonal local ingredients are grilled to a fragrant finish; in your room, enjoy moments with village craft gin and regional sake. In this place where nature and culture flow in cycles, experience a stay where people and nature gently return to one.

An all-season “Mountain Family Holiday” spent close to nature

Based on the concept of "A Family Holiday in the Mountains," we offer dishes that make full use of the nature, Onsen, and abundant blessings of Nozawa Onsen throughout the four seasons. Some guest rooms were renovated in 2017 and 2021, and in 2022, we introduced a new kids' play area called "GOTA." This ensures a safe and enjoyable stay even for families with small children, regardless of the weather. In winter, our prime location is just zero seconds on foot to the slopes, allowing you to fully enjoy skiing and snowboarding. It’s perfect for families with children who want to enjoy playing in the snow or for those who wish to ski at a leisurely pace. From spring to summer, our farm-to-table dishes featuring foraged mountain vegetables, mushrooms, and homegrown produce are highly praised. In summer, you can enjoy BBQs, vegetable harvesting experiences, fireworks, and more. Additionally, there are plenty of active nature experiences such as SUP at Lake Hokuryu and cycling through the great outdoors. After a day full of activities, refresh your body and mind in our log house Onsen, which uses the famous "Shinyu" hot spring as its source. The temperature is carefully adjusted for families with children, allowing everyone to relax and soak together. Enjoy "A Family Holiday in the Mountains" surrounded by nature, all year round.
