A modern guesthouse that blends seamlessly into Obuse, also known as the “Town of Hokusai.”

Opened on September 2, 2007. Named “Masuichi Kyakuden” from the owner’s wish: “We would have loved to welcome you into our own home…”. Designed by architect John Morford—who also designed “Kurabu” and the main store of Masuichi Ichimura Sake Brewery—this Accommodation is his vision of where he would want to stay when visiting Obuse. Centered around three earthen storehouses relocated from a long-established sugar wholesaler in Nagano, it comprises seven wooden buildings, with interiors fully furnished in Western style.

A Ryokan surrounded by the mountains of Northern Shinshu, proud to offer 11 types of soothing Onsen baths.

The entire lobby floor was fully renovated on August 1, 2018! Aburaya Tosen is a hot-spring inn where the warmth of the waters soothes the body, heartfelt hospitality welcomes you, and flowing water reflecting the mountains of Shinshu invites you to relax through the changing seasons—lighting a gentle flame in your heart and warming all five senses. Long ago, rapeseed was pressed here and oil was carried from this place, where people gathered around lantern light in peaceful companionship. With time, a bathhouse was built to warm days of therapeutic bathing, and today this inn has expanded the pleasures of hot-spring touring for travelers. Aburaya Tosen is a place to slow down, linger unhurriedly, and stay awhile.
