This hot spring inn lights a flame in your heart and warms your senses. Once a place where rapeseed oil was pressed and transported, people gathered around lanterns for moments of togetherness. Over time, a bathhouse was built to provide comfort for those seeking healing through hot springs. Now, this inn has expanded its offerings to enhance the joy of traveling and exploring various hot springs. "Aburaya Tousen" invites you to relax at your own pace and enjoy an extended stay while savoring every moment leisurely.

Opened on September 2, 2007. Named “Masuichi Kyakuden” from the owner’s wish: “We would have loved to welcome you into our own home…”. Designed by architect John Morford—who also designed “Kurabu” and the main store of Masuichi Ichimura Sake Brewery—this Accommodation is his vision of where he would want to stay when visiting Obuse. Centered around three earthen storehouses relocated from a long-established sugar wholesaler in Nagano, it comprises seven wooden buildings, with interiors fully furnished in Western style.

As an annex of the historic "Shinshu Yudanaka Onsen Yorozuya," which has been welcoming guests since the Edo Kansei era, this new accommodation will be reborn on March 1, 2024. The previous Matsusho-so was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2003 and cherished by many until it was lost to fire in 2021. Despite this loss, with encouragement from numerous supporters, we are proud to announce its revival as the new "Matsusho-so" on March 1, 2024. The building incorporates design elements of the original Matsusho-so while embracing traditional Sukiya architecture that harmonizes with nature. Each room features a private open-air bath overlooking a small garden where guests can enjoy seasonal landscapes. We have created a space that feels "new yet somehow nostalgic." Located on a hilltop, our guest rooms on the upper floors and the open-air baths on the top floor offer breathtaking views of the majestic mountain ranges of Northern Shinshu. Enjoy an extraordinary moment while gazing at the vast scenery that you would never encounter in the city. The private open-air bath "TSUBAKI" is equipped with a mini-bar and multimedia speakers. Guests can enjoy a blissful time with a glass in hand, accompanied by their favorite music as background. In the spring of 2021, we opened guest rooms with open-air baths featuring natural hot spring water, which have been highly praised. Our cuisine, made with premium ingredients such as brand beef, Shinshu beef, fresh seafood directly sourced from the Joetsu market, and carefully selected local produce, is truly exceptional!

The Japanese garden with only 6 properties offers a relaxing space illuminated by over 100 soft lamps. All guests are gifted 30 minutes of free private bath use, ensuring a private stay. Enjoy the Yudanaka Onsen, which opened approximately 1350 years ago. Meals feature colorful kaiseki cuisine centered on seasonal ingredients from Shinshu, with Shinshu brand beef raised on apples as the main dish.
