Indulge in the luxury of doing nothing—an extraordinary escape within world-renowned architecture.

An award-winning “transparent architecture that blends into the forest,” recognized by architectural prizes in Japan and abroad. A one-of-a-kind masterpiece, featured repeatedly in the media.【The ultimate luxury—inside extraordinary architecture】 Wake up to dappled sunlight and birdsong. In season, squirrels may even stop by to say good morning from the 3rd-floor bedroom. Outside the windows stretches an untouched forest with nothing to block your view; at night, only silence and a sky full of stars remain. To preserve nature as much as possible, only three trees were felled during construction. Put power and screens aside for a while—and do nothing. That time is the greatest luxury here.【Up to 3 bedrooms—ideal for multiple families】 Perfect for a quiet weekend for a couple and their dog, or for 2–3 families / 2–3 generations traveling together, or gatherings of 4–6 friends. By adding the optional detached annex “Ya no Ie,” you can expand to a 3-bedroom layout and accommodate up to 10 guests. It’s also popular as a “secret base” just for kids.【Most popular: Private Chef Plan】 Authentic Italian cuisine sourced directly from renowned nearby restaurants, prepared at your table in this architectural masterpiece. We also offer a more casual catering Plan. As dining out or shopping requires driving, we highly recommend considering the Private Chef option for dinner.【The luxury of slowing down】 Time spent here is not simply a trip to look at scenery—it’s a journey inward, toward yourself, your family, and close friends you can truly relax with. Deep conversations born from stillness; bonds that grow stronger in unhurried moments; time to remember what matters most—things left behind in an ever-accelerating world. These moments at Wa no Ie are one of today’s greatest luxuries.【Enjoy nature with an immersive stay】 A car is essential to reach central Karuizawa or convenience stores. The building also prioritizes design over practicality in its structure. But that is exactly what makes it so special: stepping away from everyday life and being surrounded by nature. For experienced travelers who embrace every bit of “inconvenience,” as well as children seeking adventure, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime memory. There are many stairs throughout; if you’re staying with children or pets, we can install baby gates free of charge for your peace of mind.

Enjoy an extraordinary retreat surrounded by tranquility at this Onsen accommodation, a renovated traditional house perched above the river in the Hoshio village.

Hoshio Hamlet, tucked deep in Nammoku Village at the far western edge of Gunma Prefecture, is a true hidden retreat where Japan’s nostalgic original landscape still remains. Traditional farmhouses over 100 years old (former sericulture homes) still stand here, and the stone walls built by earlier generations create a remarkable scenery. The “Shiomizu Mineral Spring” (local name), once used as the hamlet’s public bathhouse, was revived as Hoshio Onsen through the efforts of villagers and supporters from outside the village. The bath attached to each Room features free-flowing hot spring water from Hoshio Onsen (piped directly from the source). Its reddish, golden-hued water warms you to the core and leaves your skin smooth—an Onsen known for its beautifying qualities. Tateiwa: A 40-tatami total pure Japanese-style Room with two connected 12-tatami rooms (24 tatami), surrounded by a three-sided veranda corridor + private open-air Onsen bath for guests Hoshio: A 20-tatami Western-style Room with an 8-tatami living area plus two 6-tatami bedrooms finished with solid hinoki wood for a natural woody fragrance + private open-air Onsen bath for guests Hoshiogawa: A 10-tatami Western-style Room with views of the Hoshiogawa River right in front of you + private Onsen rock bath for guests (the tub is tiled—a symbol of Showa-era romance) Step away from city crowds, immerse yourself in silence filled only with murmuring streams and birdsong, soak in Hoshio Onsen, gaze at the stars at night, and enjoy a truly extraordinary escape. <Hot spring quality of Hoshio Onsen> Sodium-Calcium Bicarbonate-Chloride Cold Mineral Spring (Hypotonic Neutral Cold Mineral Spring)
