Located in the middle of Hanamaki Minami Onsenkyo, Yama no Kami Onsen is named after the "Yamatsumi Shrine" that enshrines the mountain deity in this area. Yukaen, a Yama no Kami Onsen inn crafted by shrine carpenters, features lattice-patterned ceilings and intricate craftsmanship throughout the building, allowing you to fully enjoy a relaxing time surrounded by the warmth of wood.
We do not pride ourselves on the richness of "things" such as luxurious designs or expensive ingredients, but rather wish for you to experience the true luxury of immersing yourself in the "time" and "space" offered by our mountain hot spring property. That is our desire. Immerse yourself in the water, immerse yourself in the time. A resort Ryokan for adults, where you can enjoy your holiday. That is our concept. Discover your own way of spending time in a private and comfortable space.
Inishie no Toki Onsen. With over 600 years of tradition, the renowned hot spring flowing from the mountains of Hanamaki, the legendary Shirozaru Onsen, a time of relaxation, exquisite cuisine, and the spirit of hospitality passed down since its opening, a new story begins.
A keyaki-wood Onsen Ryokan—beloved by Kenji Miyazawa and Torahiko Tamiya—crafted entirely from zelkova, a style that can no longer be recreated today. The historic Namari Onsen, first opened around 600 years ago, offers exceptionally high-quality waters recognized by selections such as “New Japan’s 100 Famous Hot Springs,” “Japan’s 100 Famous Hot Springs,” and “Japan’s Onsen Heritage.” Unusually even among well-known hot spring areas, the property has five source springs, and all four baths on site are luxurious 100% free-flowing natural spring water (kakenagashi). It is also known as “Namari-no-Yu,” featured in Kenji Miyazawa’s masterpiece *The Bears of Nametoko Mountain*, making this a special Accommodation where the story’s world and a historic Onsen come together. In 2025, the main building—of outstanding historical value—was designated a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property, allowing you to fully enjoy the beauty of traditional Japanese architecture as well. In particular, we highly recommend the 100% natural self-springing rock bath “Hakuen-no-Yu,” said to be Japan’s deepest—a superb bath that warms you through to your core.
The only kaiseki Ryokan in Hanamaki Onsen, offering authentic kaiseki cuisine made with seasonal ingredients from Iwate. Three of the rooms come with private Onsen baths. Guests can also enjoy the high-quality waters of Hanamaki Onsen in separate large public baths for men and women.

At night, fireflies dance above the stream to create an enchanting scene. In autumn, vivid foliage colors blanket the mountains like a painting framed by your Room window. In winter, deep snowfall wraps everything in white while flames from the irori hearth and fireplace warm you to your core. And as each season turns, we craft that time’s finest flavors into our Irori Kaiseki course.Gaze at nature, soak in Onsen waters, gather around the irori hearth and savor seasonal tastes.Through this abundant nature and our cuisine alike، Yamayuri no Yado offers you time to truly unwind.
