As the tea ceremony flourished from the Azuchi–Momoyama period onward, tatami came to cover entire Rooms, and Japanese people began sitting in seiza.Beyond tea ceremony, many Japanese arts ending in “-do”—such as calligraphy, flower arrangement, and judo—are deeply connected to tatami, which is considered a foundation that helped shape the Japanese spirit.Space, cuisine, and hospitality—this is what a Ryokan offers as it embraces the beauty of Japan’s four seasons in every detail.
