Yuze Onsen Village stretches along the gorge of the clear Yoneshiro River. Said to have been named for its abundant hot water—so plentiful that it even springs up from the river shallows—this Onsen area is also highly popular as a “beauty bath” thanks to its skin-friendly mineral quality. Selected as one of the New Akita 30 Scenic Views, Yuze Gorge is also certified as a Forest Therapy Road with proven relaxation benefits, attracting guests who visit each year in search of healing. It also offers convenient access to Oyu Stone Circles, part of the UNESCO World Heritage site “Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan.”
