Shin-Iwakuni Station × Highly rated for customer service and hospitality at Hotel·Ryokan

We stayed here for my wife’s slightly belated birthday trip. I last visited Iwakuni when I was around 10 years old, but this was my first time staying overnight. Dinner was the Chef’s Special / Gourmet Kaiseki, and everything was delicious. The sashimi in particular was outstanding—I could really taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. We travel about 20 nights a year, and this was the best sashimi we’ve had. Our Room was a 20-tatami Japanese-style room with a view of Kintaikyo Bridge. Since we go to bed at different times, it was very convenient for us and we were satisfied overall. One concern was that the bathroom area (toilet and washbasin) felt quite outdated, so it wasn’t as comfortable to use. If it were renovated to the same standard as the restroom near the dining area on the 2nd floor, it would have been an even better stay. Thank you very much for preparing a birthday gift for my wife, and also for sending my wallet back to our home after I mistakenly left it in the valuables box. We truly enjoyed Iwakuni again after more than 50 years. Lastly, several young men who assisted us at dinner were wearing “In Training” badges. Their explanations of each dish were sometimes hesitant, but seeing how hard they worked felt refreshing. A word from someone older: “Keep it up, rookies!”

There is a large public bath, and I was able to relax and enjoy it. I stayed in a Room with twin beds, and it was clean and comfortable. Above all, the breakfast was excellent—there was a wide variety of dishes, and I could choose whatever I liked. I’ve stayed at many Hotels, and I think this one is top-level. If I had to mention one thing, the twin Room may be limited by design, but it would have been nice to have a slightly larger desk.

I used this hotel as a base for a solo trip from out of town. The parking lot was very spacious, and I was able to park near the entrance, which made carrying my luggage quick and easy. At the front desk, they informed me in advance that there would be a group staying, and their thoughtful consideration made me feel at ease. I had a comfortable and worry-free stay. I would definitely like to stay here again when I travel to this area.

Although I made a last-minute same-day Reservation, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. I’m truly grateful. I would definitely like to stay here again in the future. I was so happy that I couldn’t help but leave this review.

I stayed for one night in a single room, and the room was spacious and relaxing. There was a small but nice large public bath, and it was great that I could use it from 6:00 a.m. Breakfast was buffet-style with all the standard options, which was good. Since checkout the next morning was at 7:30, they handled everything quickly in a short time, and I was satisfied.

The room was warm and welcoming, spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Tissues were conveniently placed in both the room and the washroom. A small potted plant in the toilet added a nice touch. Thoughtful hospitality could be felt everywhere. As a side note unrelated to the accommodation, please be aware that there are limited options for dinner within walking distance (most places only operate during lunchtime).

Amazed by how delicious the food was! Honestly, since it’s in the countryside I didn’t expect much, but dinner was surprisingly good. Everything was tasty with Kanto-style seasoning, and the simmered sea bream head was outstanding. In each appetizer, you could feel the chef’s love for cooking. The local specialty, Iwakuni sushi, also had a gentle flavor and was exquisite.\nFor the Room, we recommend the second-floor corner Room where Uno Chiyo’s father once indulged in lavish stays.

I didn’t receive the email for smart check-in, but thanks to the front desk staff’s efficient support, I was able to check in smoothly. They even helped me register my email address, so I’d like to stay here again. The parking lot is right in front, making it easy to carry in luggage, and the room was very clean. It seemed like there were guests in the neighboring container as well, but I couldn’t hear any sounds like running water, so it was quiet and relaxing. The room had a freezer, refrigerator, microwave, and electric kettle. Since I received frozen rice and tea at the front desk, I was able to enjoy a leisurely meal.

Perhaps because it was a corner Room, the Wi‑Fi was a bit unstable, which was the only disappointment, but overall we were very satisfied. We usually stay at a nearby major Hotel, but thanks to the thoughtful Facility and amenities here, we have already made a Reservation for next time and the time after that as well. The price is reasonable; preferences vary from person to person, but we would like to continue staying here in the future. Also, both at check-in and check-out, we were assisted by a young woman with glasses at the front desk, and her warm service left a great impression.
