Ryumeikan was established in 1899 (Meiji 32) as a branch of the former Naguraya Ryokan under the name "Ryokan Ryumeikan Main Store." With over 110 years of history, it was renamed "Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten" to be loved as a city brand hotel in this area of Kanda Ochanomizu, and it was newly renovated in August 2014. Transitioning from the traditional Ryokan business with only Japanese-style rooms, it has evolved into a next-generation hotel that blends Japanese and Western styles, functionality, and beauty, continuing the lineage of the city's Ryokan.
