Since its establishment by Kobo Daishi Kukai during the Heian period, Mount Koya has transcended all sects and continued to nurture its history as the general bodhi site of Japan. Located in front of the Seven Halls of the Great Temple Complex, adjacent to the head temple Kongobuji to the east, and backed by the mountain of Prince Kakuhou's Mausoleum, the special-status temple "Mount Koya Special-Status Temple Soujiji" is an ancient temple blessed with excellent Facilities and a grand garden. Koyasan Jokiin, where the Jizodo Hall was completed in 2001, is a temple themed around "healing." The large communal bath "Jizo-yu" has been renovated, and the temple offers a shukubo (temple lodging) experience. Some special rooms do not have private baths, and the communal bath is available from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM (4:00 PM to 9:30 PM in December). Additionally, the temple's vegetarian cuisine emphasizes the seasonal essence and the esoteric Buddhist principles of "Five Methods, Five Tastes, and Five Colors," utilizing ingredients to their fullest. Guests can enjoy dishes crafted with care, featuring five types of seasoning, cooking methods, and color arrangements.
