Celebrating its 100th anniversary in the 4th year of Reiwa, "Ryokan Wakamatsu" was established in Hakodate in Taisho 11 (1922). For nearly a century, it has been cherished as a long-established Ryokan offering the finest hospitality in Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen. In Showa 29, it was honored to host His Majesty the Emperor during his tour of Hokkaido, and in recent years, it has been awarded one star in the "Michelin Guide Hokkaido." While inheriting the rich history and traditions of the past, we invite you to indulge in a luxurious moment with the hospitality refined over the years.
A Property to Fully Enjoy "Onsen and Cuisine" in Southern Hokkaido Yunokawa Onsen, one of Hokkaido's three major Onsen towns, is a renowned hot spring. The source of this Onsen is said to have been enjoyed by Matsumae Chikatsumaru, who later became the lord of the Matsumae Domain during the Edo period, and by Enomoto Takeaki, the leader of the former shogunate forces during the late Edo period. "Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Akari / Hewitt Resort" is a Resort Hotel where you can experience the charm of the traditional Hakodate Yunokawa. The buffet-style dinner, featuring approximately 150 different dishes, offers one of the largest selections in Hokkaido.
An Accommodation with Wi-Fi in all guest rooms. From the open-air observation bath on the 8th floor, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Tsugaru Strait, and on clear days you can also see the Shimokita Peninsula and the Tsugaru Peninsula. For dinner, savor snow crab. With Yunokawa’s most abundant natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, bathing while taking in the spectacular scenery feels as if you are surrounded by the sea. All rooms are non-smoking; Japanese-Western style rooms feature two beds and an 8-tatami mat area in a spacious 38 m² ocean-view room.
Located about 10 minutes by car from Hakodate Airport and about a 5-minute walk from the “Yunokawa Onsen” streetcar stop, Takubokutei is based on the concept of an Accommodation that “connects three generations of history.” The historic Matsuoka Garden of Hakodate can be enjoyed from various points throughout the building, and from the large public bath and open-air bath on the top floor, you can take in both the views and the renowned Yunokawa Onsen. Dining is buffet-style, featuring popular live cooking stations serving freshly prepared dishes. You’ll also find a wide selection of specialties representing Hakodate, Southern Hokkaido, and Hokkaido, along with kid-friendly favorites. Guest rooms include mainly Japanese-style rooms as well as Western-style rooms and Japanese-Western rooms; upper-floor rooms with sweeping views unique to Hakodate are also popular. The Accommodation also offers a full range of Facility options, including an “Enjoy Space” for families and a soothing relaxation spa.
