Located in the western part of Kagawa Prefecture, the Shonai Peninsula is home to HYOUBOU, nestled within an olive farm in its central area. From the two buildings situated on a gently elevated cape, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the islands of the Seto Inland Sea and the opposite shore of Okayama Prefecture. The scenery of the Seto Inland Sea, showcasing its seasonal beauty, is a timeless landscape that has remained largely unchanged since ancient times, offering a sense of eternity. The name "HYOUBOU" is a coined term combining "Hanada-iro" (a traditional Japanese color, a bright pale blue) and "Bouyou" (a vast and boundless expanse). It was named after the color of the early spring sky as seen from the gently elevated hill where the buildings stand, and the endless expanse of the sky and sea. In spring, enjoy the contrast of mountain cherry blossoms and morning mist. In summer, witness the interplay of deep blue seas and towering cumulonimbus clouds. In autumn, admire the bountiful olive harvest and the glowing sunset of autumn skies. In winter, marvel at the crystal-clear sky filled with countless stars. Experience the eternal moments that can only be encountered by staying in this special place.

La toile is a standalone house nestled in the satoyama, built in the 1950s when Japan was entering its period of rapid economic growth. The challenge was how to incorporate the passage of "50 years" while preserving the natural textures of the materials that make up the building. The answer, reached after much effort, was inspired by the "Schindler House," a masterpiece by Rudolph Schindler, a pioneer of American Modernism. It resembles a Japanese house manifested in America, yet it was built with a design philosophy distinct from traditional Japanese architecture—a fusion of modernism and Japanese culture. An homage to the 1950s and a blend of Japanese architecture and modernism. As a hidden retreat in the Shimosa district of Takase Town, far removed from typical tourist destinations, La toile awaits your visit.
