Kameoka is a major production area for Kyoto vegetables and has long been called the "kitchen of Kyoto" due to its abundance of ingredients. Additionally, the characteristic scenery of the Kameoka Basin, where the morning mist and sunrise create a sea of clouds resembling red waves, inspired the name as a word that encapsulates the essence of Kameoka.
