Skilled in traditional ink-line marking, Heikichi was known locally as “Sumiya no Hei-san” (“Hei from the ink shop”). From this nickname came the house name Tanpei, later renamed “Tanpei,” and it has since been operated as the oldest Accommodation in Tango Town to this day. The spirit of hospitality of “Sumiya no Hei-san” has been passed down through six generations and continues today.

Nestled in a small village by the sea on the Tango Peninsula, the Property "Goheiji" is an accommodation consisting of an 80-year-old main house and a storehouse over 140 years old. Originally belonging to a distinguished family lineage dating back to the Edo period, the main house features a lattice ceiling arranged in a grid pattern that catches the eye when you look up. Its sheer beauty was love at first sight, and while it was initially intended to be a residence, the desire to share the charm of traditional Japanese houses with more people led to its current style as a one-group-per-day Property.
