An auberge nestled in the forest at the foot of the Hira Mountains, close to Lake Biwa. With the themes of “the luxury of doing nothing” and “a secluded Accommodation,” we serve satoyama Italian cuisine born from fresh lake seafood and the rich bounty of the mountains. Set on a 500-tsubo property, we welcome only six parties per day. Each room is spacious and distinctive, created for moments of quiet serenity. In 2023, young chef Takuro Ishizuka—born and raised here at the foot of the Hira Mountains—joined us. "Tabiyado Usagi to Kame" is a Property located in Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture, renovated from a 50-year-old wooden building into a whole-house rental accommodation. Some of the fittings in the Property were designed by architect William Merrell Vories, and the building features suite-style rooms. From the living room and open-air bath on the first floor, you can enjoy the garden, while the Japanese-style room on the second floor offers views of Mt. Hachiman and the ropeway.
