The history of Fujiya Ryokan is long-standing, with records indicating that its predecessor, an Onsen inn, existed as far back as the late Edo period. In fact, buildings from the end of the Edo era remained until 1968. According to the "Yugawara Guide" published in 1918, Fujiya Ryokan began as an Onsen Ryokan in 1876, and at the time, it was poetically named "Shuhoen."
