Known as the “inner retreat of Takayama,” Hida-Furukawa is a charming town lined with traditional townhouses, white-walled storehouses, and the Setogawa River where carp swim. Our Accommodation has been welcoming guests here for over 180 years. This Meiji-era building, showcasing the craftsmanship of Hida artisans, is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Our 18 guest rooms are spread across three buildings, each with its own character: Shogetsuro, a merchant-style building (built in 1905); Kogetsuro, built in the Sukiya style (early Showa period); and Kangetsuro (built in the Heisei era), offering views of Honkoji Temple and the Araki River from the front. Our accommodation, Hida Furukawa Togenkyo Onsen, is the only place in Hida Furukawa with its own natural hot spring source. The natural onsen, cherished by locals and previously little known to others, flows abundantly from our private source and features a soft, smooth texture like a beauty serum. For meals, our chef carefully selects premium ingredients such as Hida beef and an array of fresh vegetables and mountain plants from the satoyama region to craft each dish with care.
