Our Property is a hidden retreat located in the village of Azumino, Shinshu, surrounded by natural forests. The area is home to artistic buildings such as museums that harmonize with nature, creating a serene environment. While the exterior features a rustic design reminiscent of traditional Japanese houses, stepping inside reveals a fusion of Western-style interiors inspired by the Meiji era and traditional Japanese Room designs, including features like an irori hearth. In this simple yet nostalgic space filled with the warmth of wood, we believe you will fully experience a sense of comfort and relaxation.

It has been transformed into an exclusive villa for one group per day. The name "KOSO" reflects gratitude towards nature and people, inspired by the original gallery's name meaning "because of (nature or people)."The unique design resembling a traditional storehouse has been preserved while incorporating local elements such as Azumino-sourced wood and glasswork created by local artists. Renovations include features like cedar plank fences, pure white plaster walls, massive 10-meter beams reminiscent of the grandeur of the Northern Alps, along with softly curved dining spaces designed to embrace you warmly. There’s also a cozy area to gather around while watching the stove’s flames.Experience the warmth of craftsmanship through Shinshu lacquerware, Uchiyama handmade paper, Karakami prints, and other locally crafted items that reflect natural textures and artistry from this region.

A private villa for one group per day, "Senshin-an," nestled in the tranquility of Azumino at the foot of the Northern Alps. Spanning over 200 square meters, this Japanese-modern retreat features exquisite wooden craftsmanship by master carpenters and an authentic tea room. Enjoy a blissful time soaking in natural Onsen with free-flowing spring water while taking in the seasonal scenery. Nestled in a quiet villa area in Azumino–Hotaka at the foothills of the Northern Alps, this is a private Onsen Accommodation limited to one group per day, rented as an entire house. In the hinoki bath made from Kiso cypress, you can enjoy free-flowing natural hot spring water drawn from the mountains. The approx. 450 m² garden features local plants that bud and change with the seasons, and you can feel these transitions from the living room. At night, a star-filled sky spreads across the clear air, bringing a stillness far from everyday life. In the morning, we offer a light breakfast featuring freshly grated wasabi. Although winters are severe in this area, a pellet stove like a fireplace is installed for comfortable stays even in autumn and winter. Daio Wasabi Farm and the Azumino Chihiro Art Museum are about 15 minutes away by car. The nearest ski resort is Jiigatake Ski Resort—ideal for beginners and families—about 30 minutes away by car. Hakuba, Kurobe, Kamikochi, and Matsumoto are all within about an hour’s drive. Enjoying views of the Northern Alps foothills, this Accommodation is an ideal base for exploring Azumino’s unique nature and culture at a relaxed pace. Enjoy creative kaiseki cuisine featuring mountain delicacies personally foraged by our head chef and seasonal ingredients from Azumino. Our Japanese-modern guest rooms, renovated in March 2020, come in three types inspired by signature Shinshu colors. Relax in our soft-feeling alkaline simple Onsen, available in a stone-lined open-air bath and a spacious large public bath. Soak while taking in the changing seasons, and at night, enjoy the moon and stars as you unwind in the Onsen.

A Property renovated from a wealthy merchant's villa, featuring a magnificent building and garden made with carefully selected natural materials. The long corridors, staircases, and open resting areas reflect the playful spirit of the merchant. The detached guest rooms consist of two connected Japanese-style rooms (10 tatami mats and 8 tatami mats) and include a private open-air bath, indoor bath, kitchen, garden, and entrance, offering a private and relaxing stay. The open-air bath, crafted from large rocks, is located within the garden, allowing guests to enjoy the fresh greenery or autumn foliage. The cuisine includes seasonal dishes such as Shinshu beef steak and fresh vegetables, providing a taste of the seasons.
